The Safariland 079 Concealment Double Magazine Holder, – 1 out of 2 models aims to provide a low-profile, accessible solution for carrying spare magazines, crucial for both law enforcement and responsible civilians. It’s designed by Safariland, a name synonymous with quality and durability in the tactical gear world. The holder promises secure retention and quick access, addressing the common needs of professionals and concealed carry enthusiasts alike.

My journey to finding this product stemmed from a growing discomfort and inefficiency with my previous magazine carrying methods. I needed something that offered both security and accessibility, all while minimizing bulk. The promise of a Safariland product, known for their robust construction and practical design, piqued my interest and led me to explore the 079 Concealment Double Magazine Holder.

Upon unboxing, the initial impression was of a well-built, albeit simple, piece of equipment. The materials felt robust and the overall construction appeared solid, suggesting durability. Its sleek design and minimal bulk stood in stark contrast to some of the bulkier magazine carriers I’d used previously.

I considered several other options, including kydex carriers and some nylon pouches, but ultimately chose the Safariland for its reputation for retention and durability. Other options felt flimsy or lacked the secure hold I desired. This seemed like a more professional and reliable solution.

My first impression was positive, but cautiously optimistic. I was eager to see how it performed in real-world scenarios, considering Safariland’s reputation precedes it. This Safariland 079 Concealment Double Magazine Holder seemed promising, but only field use would reveal its true potential.

Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland 079 Concealment Double Magazine Holder, – 1 out of 2 models to the Test

First Use Experience

I first tested the Safariland 079 Concealment Double Magazine Holder at an outdoor shooting range during a full day of tactical drills. This included rapid reloads, movement under cover, and various shooting positions. The weather was sunny and dry, a fairly benign environment for testing gear.

The magazine holder performed well under these conditions, providing secure retention and allowing for relatively quick access to my magazines. I didn’t need much time to get used to the draw stroke, finding it fairly intuitive. The magazines were held securely, even during rapid movements.

My initial concern about the potential for magazines to shift or loosen during movement proved unfounded. The retention system kept everything firmly in place. I encountered no significant issues during this first outing.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of consistent use, incorporating the Safariland 079 Concealment Double Magazine Holder into my daily carry and training routines, it has proven to be remarkably durable. It has seen use in varying conditions, from dry range days to damp, brush-filled training scenarios. There has been minimal wear and tear.

The STX Tactical finish has held up surprisingly well, resisting scratches and scuffs. Cleaning is straightforward, requiring only a wipe-down with a damp cloth. This is a huge plus compared to some nylon pouches which can absorb moisture and require more intensive cleaning.

Compared to previous magazine carriers, this one significantly outperforms them in terms of retention, durability, and concealability. It has become an essential part of my everyday carry setup. I would highly recommend the Safariland 079 Concealment Double Magazine Holder based on my real-world testing and experience.
