Let’s Talk About Rothco Infidel Shoulder Morale Patch
The Rothco Infidel Shoulder Morale Patch is a small, yet impactful accessory designed to add a touch of personality and potentially, a statement, to your tactical gear. Manufactured by Rothco, a well-known name in the military and outdoor supply industry, this patch offers a simple way to customize your gear. I’ve seen countless patches over the years, from unit insignia to humorous sayings, but this one, with its specific message, definitely stands out.
I was looking for a subtle way to personalize my range bag and tactical vest. I didn’t want something overtly aggressive, but I wanted something that reflected my no-nonsense approach. The Rothco Infidel Shoulder Morale Patch seemed like a perfect fit.
Upon unboxing (or rather, unwrapping, as it comes in simple bulk packaging), the patch felt solid and well-made for the price. The polyester material feels durable, and the hook backing seems secure. My initial thought was that it was a decent quality patch for the cost, but I was a little concerned about long-term durability.
I considered a few other morale patches before settling on this one. I looked at some higher-end embroidered patches, but they were significantly more expensive. I also looked at some generic flag patches, but they lacked the specific message I was going for. Ultimately, the price point and the message of the Rothco Infidel Shoulder Morale Patch swayed me.
My first impression was a cautious optimism. I was excited to add it to my gear, but I wasn’t expecting it to be a premium, indestructible item. I was hoping it would be a reliable, affordable way to express myself on the range and in the field.
Real-World Testing: Putting Rothco Infidel Shoulder Morale Patch to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Rothco Infidel Shoulder Morale Patch at my local shooting range. I attached it to the loop panel on my range bag and my tactical vest. The hook backing held securely during movement and handling of equipment.
The weather was mild and dry. I noticed no immediate issues with the patch. It stayed firmly attached even while moving around the range, loading magazines, and generally handling my gear. The patch was also exposed to direct sunlight for several hours but I observed no immediate color fading or material degradation.
It was incredibly easy to use; simply press it onto any loop surface and it stays put. I didn’t need any time to get used to it.
The only surprise was how many people noticed it and commented on it. It definitely sparked some conversations and reactions, both positive and negative, which was a factor to consider.
Extended Use & Reliability
After a couple of months of consistent use, the Rothco Infidel Shoulder Morale Patch has held up remarkably well. I’ve worn it on my vest during several range trips, a weekend hiking trip, and even while doing some light yard work.
There are no significant signs of wear and tear. The polyester material still looks relatively new. There is a slight bit of fraying on the edges, but it’s minimal. The hook backing is still strongly attached, and I haven’t noticed any decrease in its gripping power.
Maintenance is extremely simple: a quick wipe with a damp cloth is usually enough to remove any dirt or dust. I haven’t needed to do anything more than that.
Compared to some other patches I’ve used in the past, the Rothco Infidel Shoulder Morale Patch has performed better than expected, especially considering its price point. Other cheaper patches have quickly faded or started to unravel. So far, this one has proven to be surprisingly durable.
