I’ve spent years experimenting with different calls, always searching for that perfect blend of high-end volume for reaching distant birds and subtle, realistic tones for close-in coaxing. Real-World Testing: Putting Rolling Thunder Game DC013SBTA Brute XLS Cutdown Attracts Ducks Burnt Ash A to the Test
First Use Experience
I field-tested the Rolling Thunder Game DC013SBTA Brute XLS Cutdown Attracts Ducks Burnt Ash A on a late-season mallard hunt in the flooded timber of Arkansas. The weather was cold and damp, a typical hunting day.
The call performed admirably in these conditions, producing crisp, clear calls even when slightly wet. I found the “cutdown” design made it easy to produce the short, choppy notes that are crucial for breaking ducks. There was a very slight learning curve to mastering the call’s nuances, but I quickly adapted. The responsiveness was immediately noticeable.
I was initially surprised by how little air it took to get the call going. I had expected a larger call to require more lung capacity.
