Let’s Dive into Rhino Blinds 16ft Command Tower w/ Ladder Entry
The Rhino Blinds 16ft Command Tower w/ Ladder Entry promises a secure and elevated hunting experience. Built by Rhino Blinds, it’s designed to provide hunters with a sturdy platform, comfortable seating, and safe access. The key features that immediately catch the eye are the large platform, the comfort mesh swivel seat, and the rigid ladder entry.
As an experienced outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve spent countless hours in various treestands, constantly searching for the perfect balance of safety, comfort, and functionality. Recently, I had an incident with a cheaper, less stable stand where the platform shifted unexpectedly. This made me realize the importance of investing in a truly reliable and well-engineered elevated hunting solution, specifically one that minimized the risk of falls.
Upon unboxing, the Rhino Blinds 16ft Command Tower w/ Ladder Entry immediately impressed me with its robust construction. The steel components felt solid and well-coated, hinting at long-term durability. While not feather-light, the weight seemed reasonable considering the promised stability and height.
Compared to cheaper ladder stands I’ve used in the past, the Rhino Blinds model feels significantly more substantial. Compared to pricier, fully enclosed stands, it offers a more open-air experience with enhanced visibility. I picked this over other options primarily due to the promised combination of a large, non-skid platform and a comfortable swivel seat.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The build quality appeared excellent, suggesting a long lifespan, and the features seemed well-thought-out. I was eager to see how it would perform in a real-world hunting scenario, but safety was top of mind given my recent incident.
Real-World Testing: Putting Rhino Blinds 16ft Command Tower w/ Ladder Entry to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test of the Rhino Blinds 16ft Command Tower w/ Ladder Entry was during an early-season deer hunt in the dense woods of Northern Wisconsin. I set it up near a known deer trail overlooking a small clearing. The weather was damp and chilly, with a light drizzle throughout the morning.
The non-skid, raised steel mesh platform proved invaluable in the wet conditions. My boots maintained a solid grip, instilling confidence despite the slick environment. The comfort mesh swivel seat lived up to its name, providing hours of comfortable sitting without the aches and pains I’ve experienced in lesser stands. There were no unexpected creaks or shifts; the stand felt rock solid.
Getting used to the ladder entry took a bit of time. The rectangular design felt secure, but initially, I was overly cautious due to my previous experience. However, once I adjusted to the stable design, ascending and descending became smooth and reliable.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use during both archery and rifle seasons, the Rhino Blinds 16ft Command Tower w/ Ladder Entry has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of wear and tear beyond some minor cosmetic scratches on the paint. The steel components have shown no signs of rust or corrosion, despite exposure to rain and snow.
Maintenance has been minimal. A quick wipe down with a damp cloth after each use is all that’s needed to keep the platform and seat clean. The stand remains exceptionally stable.
Compared to previous ladder stands I’ve owned, the Rhino Blinds model surpasses them in both comfort and stability. The quality is significantly higher, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing I’m in a safe and sturdy stand is invaluable.
