First Thoughts on the Real Avid/Revo Gun Boss Pro Fits .22-.45 Cal
The Real Avid/Revo Gun Boss Pro Fits .22-.45 Cal promises a comprehensive handgun cleaning solution in a compact, organized package. Manufactured by Real Avid, a company known for its innovative gun maintenance tools, this kit aims to provide everything needed to keep your pistols running smoothly, from .22 plinkers to .45 ACP workhorses. The flip-open case with labeled tools immediately suggests user-friendliness, a crucial factor when cleaning firearms after a long day at the range or in the field.
My need for this cleaning kit arose from a growing collection of handguns, each requiring its specific cleaning tools. Previously, I relied on a hodgepodge of brushes, rods, and patches scattered across my workbench. The appeal of a single, organized kit was strong. After a recent match where my .45 started experiencing failures to feed, a comprehensive cleaning solution became less of a convenience and more of a necessity.
Unboxing the Real Avid/Revo Gun Boss Pro Fits .22-.45 Cal, I was immediately impressed by the case’s sturdy polycarbonate construction. The kit feels lightweight yet durable. The tools, neatly organized and labeled, inspire confidence. The ergonomic handle felt good in my hand and promised ease of use.
Compared to standalone bore brushes or generic cleaning kits, the Real Avid/Revo Gun Boss Pro Fits .22-.45 Cal appeared to be a significant upgrade. I considered the Hoppe’s Deluxe Gun Cleaning Kit and the Otis Technology Elite Cleaning System, but the Real Avid kit’s specific handgun focus and compact design won me over. The Hoppe’s kit felt bulky, and the Otis system seemed overkill for my primary handgun cleaning needs.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. While the kit looked promising, the proof would be in its performance. I was eager to see if the Real Avid/Revo Gun Boss Pro Fits .22-.45 Cal could truly simplify and improve my handgun cleaning routine.
Real-World Testing: Putting Real Avid/Revo Gun Boss Pro Fits .22-.45 Cal to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Real Avid/Revo Gun Boss Pro Fits .22-.45 Cal after a day at the shooting range, where I put my 9mm and .45 ACP through their paces. The conditions were relatively dry, but the guns were definitely dirty. The flip-open case, acting as a kickstand, was immediately appreciated; it kept the tools organized and accessible on the range’s somewhat cluttered bench.
The kit performed admirably in cleaning both handguns. Using the appropriate brush and jag for each caliber, I quickly removed carbon fouling and lead deposits from the bores. The ergonomic handle provided a comfortable and secure grip. There were no initial hiccups. The labeled tools eliminated any guesswork about which brush to use.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use, cleaning my handguns after each range trip, the Real Avid/Revo Gun Boss Pro Fits .22-.45 Cal has held up well. There are no signs of wear and tear on the case or the cleaning tools themselves. The brass brushes show slight discoloration from use, but they remain effective.
Maintenance is straightforward. The brushes can be cleaned with solvent, and the jags wipe down easily. The polycarbonate case can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Comparing this kit to my previous disorganized cleaning methods, the Real Avid/Revo Gun Boss Pro Fits .22-.45 Cal is a massive improvement in terms of efficiency and organization. It has definitely exceeded my expectations in providing a dedicated and easy-to-use handgun cleaning solution.
