Quest Centec NXT Bow Package Review

First Impressions of Quest Centec NXT Bow Package

The Quest Centec NXT Bow Package from Quest promises to be a highly adjustable and user-friendly bow, especially designed for younger archers. As someone who’s spent over a decade immersed in the world of outdoor and tactical gear, including archery equipment, I was eager to see if it lived up to the hype. The inclusion of the EZ Grip trainer and the adjustable draw length, all without a press, immediately piqued my interest.

I was looking for a bow that I could confidently recommend to parents looking to introduce their children to archery. Many youth bows suffer from poor adjustability, making it difficult for young archers to maintain proper form as they grow. This adjustability feature is extremely important to me as I work with multiple youth outdoor programs and that is a key consideration when introducing anyone to archery.

Upon unboxing, the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package felt surprisingly solid. The aluminum construction gave it a robust feel, far exceeding my expectations for a youth bow. The included accessories—sight, rest, quiver, and peep sight—appeared well-made and ready for action. Compared to other youth bows on the market, like the Diamond Archery Infinite Edge Pro or the Bear Archery Brave, the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package seemed to offer a more comprehensive and thoughtfully designed package.

My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. I was excited to see how the bow performed in the field, but also aware that many youth bows promise more than they deliver. Would it truly be as adjustable and forgiving as Quest claimed? Time would tell.

Real-World Testing: Putting Quest Centec NXT Bow Package to the Test

First Use Experience

I first tested the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package at a local archery range, with a group of young archers ranging in age from 10 to 14. The setting provided a controlled environment to assess the bow’s ease of use and adjustability. The weather was mild, but there was a slight crosswind that would test the bow’s stability. Adjusting the draw length and weight was surprisingly simple; the rotating mod system worked flawlessly.

The EZ Grip trainer proved to be a fantastic tool. It helped the young archers maintain a consistent grip, which immediately improved their accuracy. The bow was relatively quiet and exhibited minimal hand shock. After the first session, I was impressed with the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package‘s overall performance.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of regular use, the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of significant wear and tear, despite being used by multiple young archers. The finish remains intact, and the string shows minimal fraying. Maintenance has been straightforward; a quick wipe-down after each use is all that’s needed.

Compared to previous experiences with other youth bows, the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package has significantly outperformed them in terms of durability and adjustability. Many youth bows I’ve used in the past required frequent repairs or adjustments, but the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package has proven to be remarkably reliable. It’s a bow that inspires confidence, both in its performance and its longevity.

Breaking Down the Features of Quest Centec NXT Bow Package

Specifications

• The Quest Centec NXT Bow Package features a draw weight adjustable from 15-45 lbs, making it suitable for a wide range of young archers. This adjustability ensures that the bow can grow with the archer, providing years of use.
• With a draw length range of 19-26 inches, the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package can accommodate archers of varying sizes. This wide range is crucial for ensuring proper form and comfort.
• The Quest Centec NXT Bow Package boasts an axle-to-axle length of 26 inches, contributing to its compact and maneuverable design. This shorter length is ideal for younger archers who may struggle with longer bows.
• The bow achieves a speed of 270 FPS, providing ample power for target practice and small game hunting (where legal and ethical). This speed allows for flatter trajectories and increased accuracy.
• Featuring a 6-inch brace height, the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package offers a forgiving shooting platform, minimizing the impact of minor form errors. This forgiveness is especially important for young archers who are still developing their technique.

Performance & Functionality

The Quest Centec NXT Bow Package excels in its primary function: providing a highly adjustable and user-friendly archery experience for young archers. Its accuracy is commendable, especially when paired with the EZ Grip trainer. The bow’s reliability is also a major strength; it consistently performs well, even after extended use.

While the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package performs admirably, the included whisker biscuit rest could be upgraded for improved arrow flight and reduced friction. This is a minor quibble, however, as the rest is perfectly functional. Overall, the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package meets and exceeds expectations for a youth bow.

Design & Ergonomics

The Quest Centec NXT Bow Package features a well-thought-out design that prioritizes comfort and ease of use. The aluminum construction provides a solid feel without being overly heavy. The bow’s ergonomics are excellent, making it comfortable to hold and shoot, even for extended periods.

The Quest Centec NXT Bow Package requires minimal setup and adjustment, making it easy for beginners to get started. The rotating mod system for adjusting draw length and weight is particularly user-friendly. There’s a slight learning curve associated with archery in general, but the bow itself is very intuitive.

Durability & Maintenance

The Quest Centec NXT Bow Package appears to be built to last. The aluminum construction and durable finish should withstand years of use. Maintaining the bow is simple; a quick wipe-down after each use and occasional lubrication of the string are all that’s required.

Given its robust construction, the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package should provide many years of reliable service. While specific replacement parts may be Quest-specific, the bow’s overall design is relatively simple and should be easy to repair if needed.

Accessories and Customization Options

The Quest Centec NXT Bow Package comes with a comprehensive set of accessories, including:

• A 5-pin sight with a removable light.
• A whisker biscuit rest.
• A peep sight.
• A D-loop.
• A 4-arrow Headloc quiver.
• And, the EZ Grip trainer.

While the Quest Centec NXT Bow Package can be further customized with aftermarket accessories, the included components provide a solid foundation for young archers. The standard accessory mounting points allow for easy integration with popular brands.
