Let’s Talk About ProMag Archangel Remington Model 700 Long Action Precision Stock w/5-Round Follower Standard Caliber 7-Round Magazine
The ProMag Archangel Remington Model 700 Long Action Precision Stock w/5-Round Follower Standard Caliber 7-Round Magazine aims to bring modern adjustability and magazine-fed convenience to the venerable Remington 700 platform. This stock replaces the factory stock, offering features like adjustable length of pull and cheek riser, along with a detachable magazine system. It’s a compelling upgrade for hunters and precision shooters alike looking to enhance the ergonomics and functionality of their long-action Remington 700.
My trusty Remington 700 ADL in .30-06 had been a faithful companion for years, but its factory wood stock felt dated and offered limited adjustability. I needed a solution that would improve the rifle’s ergonomics and allow for faster reloads. The ProMag Archangel seemed like the perfect answer.
The ProMag Archangel arrived well-packaged. My initial impression was that it felt sturdy and well-made, despite being constructed primarily of polymer. The adjustable features moved smoothly, and the included magazine snapped securely into place.
I considered stocks from Magpul and McMillan, but the ProMag Archangel’s aggressive styling and integrated magazine system ultimately won me over. Its price point also made it an attractive option. The Magpul was similarly priced but, in my opinion, didn’t quite have the same aesthetic appeal for a more tactical/modern build.
I was excited to see how the ProMag Archangel would transform my aging Remington 700. I hoped it would breathe new life into a rifle that had served me well for over a decade. It looked a bit “plastic-y” as another reviewer had stated, but I had a plan to address that if it bothered me in the long run.

There were no immediate issues or surprises during my first range session. The ProMag Archangel felt solid and dependable, and the improvements in ergonomics were immediately noticeable. My accuracy improved.

The stock features embedded aluminum pillars for enhanced stability and accuracy. It includes three steel QD swivel mounting points for sling attachment. The adjustable length of pull (13.5in to 14.5in) and cheek riser (1.25in travel in .05in increments) allow for a customized fit. These adjustable features make this stock a good choice for shooters of different sizes and body types.
These specifications contribute significantly to the rifle’s overall performance and user experience. The enhanced stability improves accuracy, while the adjustability ensures a comfortable and ergonomic fit. The detachable magazine system offers faster reloads.
Performance & Functionality
The ProMag Archangel Remington Model 700 Long Action Precision Stock significantly enhances the performance and functionality of a Remington 700 rifle. The improved ergonomics, combined with the detachable magazine system, make for a more enjoyable and efficient shooting experience. It allows for a quick change of the mag, which greatly improves the speed of reloads and allows the operator to get back into action quicker.
The primary strength is its adjustability and the convenience of a detachable magazine. A potential weakness is the all-polymer construction, which might not appeal to everyone. It may look and feel a bit “plasticy” to some.
The ProMag Archangel meets and, in some ways, exceeds expectations. It delivers on its promise of improved ergonomics and faster reloads. However, shooters prioritizing aesthetics might find the polymer construction less appealing than a traditional wood or high-end composite stock.
Design & Ergonomics
The ProMag Archangel features an aggressively styled design with a focus on ergonomics. The adjustable cheek riser and length of pull allow for a highly customized fit. The grip storage compartment is a handy addition for storing batteries or small tools.
The build quality is good, with the polymer feeling solid and durable. The weight is reasonable, and the stock is comfortable to hold and shoot. The carbon fiber infused polymer seems to be holding up very well and doesn’t appear to be as cheap as some other polymers on the market.
There is a slight learning curve associated with adjusting the cheek riser and length of pull. It is necessary to ensure proper magazine seating, but the overall design is user-friendly. The average user should be able to become very familiar with the platform in a short period of time.
Durability & Maintenance
The ProMag Archangel is constructed from durable materials. It should last for many years with proper care. It is easy to clean with a damp cloth, and no special maintenance is required.
The polymer is resistant to most solvents and chemicals. Accidental exposure to these should not result in any serious damages or issues. This stock is a durable option for shooters who demand reliable performance in the field.
Accessories and Customization Options
The ProMag Archangel comes with a 7-round magazine and a 5-round follower. It also includes a UM style sling stud for mounting Harris style bipods.
The stock is compatible with most Remington 700 long-action accessories, such as scopes, triggers, and bipods. Aftermarket magazines from ProMag and other manufacturers are also available. It’s compatible with most standard Remington 700 triggers on the market.
