Let’s Dive into Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call
The Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call is a deceptively simple, yet highly effective tool for any whitetail hunter. Manufactured by Primos Hunting, this all-rubber call offers impressive versatility, allowing you to mimic a range of deer vocalizations with a simple squeeze and button press. What truly sets this call apart is its construction, offering unmatched tone control and durability in the field.
I’ve been searching for a reliable and versatile deer call that can handle the rigors of the hunt. Too many calls are bulky, fragile, or require precise mouth manipulation, making them impractical in cold weather or high-pressure situations. I was looking for a compact, durable, and user-friendly call that could reliably produce a range of deer sounds.
Upon unboxing the Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call, I was immediately struck by its compact size and solid feel. The all-rubber construction gives it a reassuring heft, and the ergonomic design fits comfortably in my hand. The rubber feels durable and weather resistant, and the button mechanism feels solid and responsive.
Compared to diaphragm calls that require extensive practice and can be easily affected by moisture, the Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call seemed much more forgiving. I also considered electronic calls, but their batteries can fail, and their sound quality often lacks the natural resonance of a manual call. I picked this one because I wanted reliability and simplicity without sacrificing sound quality.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The simplicity of the Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call’s design and the promise of easy tone control were appealing, but I remained skeptical about its sound quality compared to more complex calls. Would it truly be able to produce convincing deer vocalizations, or would it sound like a squeaky toy?
Real-World Testing: Putting Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call during a late-season whitetail hunt in the dense forests of northern Wisconsin. The temperature was hovering around freezing, and a light snow was falling, creating challenging conditions for both hunter and equipment. I primarily used it to mimic a young buck grunt, hoping to lure in a mature buck looking to assert its dominance.
The Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call performed admirably in the cold and damp conditions. The rubber construction remained flexible, and the sound quality was unaffected by the moisture. The ease of use was a major advantage, as I could produce convincing grunts even while wearing thick gloves.
The Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call required virtually no learning curve. A simple squeeze of the megaphone end produces a grunt, and the button allows for quick changes in tone. I quickly mastered the different vocalizations, and I was able to seamlessly incorporate the call into my hunting strategy.
After my first use, I was pleasantly surprised by the Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call. I was able to call in a young 8-point buck that was otherwise out of range, though it was probably more curious than anything else. The sound quality was far better than I anticipated, and the ease of use was a significant advantage in the field.
Extended Use & Reliability
After a full hunting season of consistent use, the Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call has proven to be a reliable and durable tool. It has endured countless hours in the field, exposed to everything from freezing temperatures to heavy rain, and it continues to perform flawlessly. The rubber material has held up remarkably well, showing no signs of cracking or deterioration.
There are no significant signs of wear and tear on the Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call after months of regular use. The rubber shows minor scuff marks, but the overall structure and functionality remain unaffected. The button mechanism still operates smoothly, and the sound quality remains consistent.
Cleaning and maintaining the Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call is incredibly simple. A quick rinse with water and a gentle scrub with a soft brush are all it takes to remove dirt and debris. I occasionally apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to the button mechanism to ensure smooth operation.
Compared to other deer calls I’ve used in the past, the Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call stands out for its durability and ease of use. Diaphragm calls require constant maintenance and are prone to failure in wet conditions, while electronic calls can be bulky and unreliable. The Primos Hunting Rubberneck Game Call offers a simpler, more reliable, and more versatile solution.
