Let’s Dive into Primos Hunting Bottleneck Deer Grunt Game Call
The Primos Hunting Bottleneck Deer Grunt Game Call is a compact and versatile tool designed to mimic the vocalizations of deer, specifically mid-tone grunts and “ROARs.” Manufactured by Primos Hunting, this call features a soft, all-rubber design and a unique bottleneck construction intended to create back pressure, thus enhancing the realism of the sound. Having spent years in the field, testing various calls, I was particularly drawn to the claims of ease of use and its ability to produce both subtle and aggressive deer vocalizations.
I was searching for a call that could reliably replicate the sounds of mature bucks without requiring excessive air pressure or complicated techniques. The compact size and rubberized construction appealed to me, promising both portability and weather resistance.
Upon unboxing, the Primos Hunting Bottleneck Deer Grunt Game Call felt immediately comfortable in my hand. The rubber material offers a secure grip, even with wet gloves, and the overall construction seemed robust enough to withstand the rigors of the hunt. I compared it to my older Olt deer call and a competitor’s acrylic grunt tube; the Primos call felt more streamlined and less prone to freezing in cold weather due to the rubber design.
My initial excitement was tempered with a bit of skepticism. While the rubber design seemed practical, I wondered if it would truly deliver the resonant, natural sound promised. Time in the field would tell, but my first impression was cautiously optimistic – a well-designed tool with potential.
Real-World Testing: Putting Primos Hunting Bottleneck Deer Grunt Game Call to the Test
First Use Experience
My first field test occurred during the early season in the Allegheny National Forest in Pennsylvania. The weather was cool and damp, typical for that time of year, and the forest floor was covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves. Using the Primos Hunting Bottleneck Deer Grunt Game Call was surprisingly intuitive. I was able to produce a range of grunts and even attempt the deeper “ROAR” with minimal effort.
The Primos Hunting Bottleneck Deer Grunt Game Call performed admirably in the damp conditions. The rubber construction prevented any sticking or freezing, and the sound carried well through the dense foliage. The call was easy to manipulate with gloved hands. After a few practice calls, the sounds were believable and natural.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use throughout the hunting season, the Primos Hunting Bottleneck Deer Grunt Game Call has proven to be a reliable and durable piece of gear. There are no noticeable signs of wear and tear on the rubber exterior. The lanyard attachment point remains secure.
Maintenance is minimal; I simply wipe the call down with a damp cloth after each use. Compared to my previous experiences with acrylic calls that required meticulous cleaning to maintain optimal sound quality, the Primos call is remarkably low-maintenance. It outperforms my expectations in terms of ease of use and consistent sound production under varying weather conditions.
