Let’s Talk About Precision Reflex 5/8 inch Internal Diameter Spacer Shim Pack
Muzzle devices, like brakes and compensators, are vital for recoil management and accuracy. Getting them properly aligned is crucial for optimal performance, and that’s where the Precision Reflex 5/8 inch Internal Diameter Spacer Shim Pack comes in. This little pack of stainless steel shims can be the difference between a perfectly timed muzzle brake and a frustrating range day.
I had been struggling with a new muzzle brake on my .308 AR-10. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get it perfectly aligned; it would either be slightly canted to the left or right. This not only looked unprofessional, but also affected the recoil reduction and muzzle climb control. I knew I needed a solution, and after reading online forums, the Precision Reflex 5/8 inch Internal Diameter Spacer Shim Pack kept popping up as a reliable fix.
Upon receiving the shim pack, I was immediately impressed by the clean, stainless steel finish. The shims were neatly organized, and I could tell right away that they were precisely cut. They felt robust for their size, and gave me confidence that they could withstand the pressures of repeated firing. Compared to some cheaper, poorly made shim kits I’d seen, this one from Precision Reflex seemed a cut above the rest.
My initial impression was one of relief and cautious optimism. I was excited to finally get my muzzle brake properly timed, but also slightly apprehensive about the installation process. I had heard horror stories of people stripping threads and damaging their barrels, so I knew I had to proceed with caution.
Real-World Testing: Putting Precision Reflex 5/8 inch Internal Diameter Spacer Shim Pack to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test with the Precision Reflex 5/8 inch Internal Diameter Spacer Shim Pack was at my local shooting range. I brought my AR-10, the muzzle brake I was trying to time, a torque wrench, and of course, the shim pack. The range offered a variety of distances, from 25 yards to 300 yards, allowing me to thoroughly test the performance of the brake once properly aligned.
The installation process was surprisingly smooth. By carefully experimenting with different combinations of shims, I was able to achieve perfect alignment. I shot about 60 rounds through the AR-10 after that. The weather was dry and sunny, providing ideal conditions for accurate shooting.
After the installation, the difference in recoil was noticeable. The rifle felt more stable, and the muzzle climb was significantly reduced. There were no issues after the first time, the shims were perfect.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, the Precision Reflex 5/8 inch Internal Diameter Spacer Shim Pack continues to perform flawlessly. There are no signs of wear or tear on the shims, and they remain securely in place. The stainless steel material resists corrosion and holds its shape even after repeated firing.
Maintenance is virtually nonexistent. After each range session, I simply wipe down the muzzle brake with a solvent to remove any carbon buildup. The shims themselves require no special cleaning or lubrication. This is a welcome change from some other gun parts that require constant attention.
Compared to my previous experiences of attempting to time muzzle brakes without shims, this product is a game-changer. I no longer have to struggle with over-tightening or under-tightening the brake, and the alignment is always perfect. The Precision Reflex shims provide a level of precision and consistency that I couldn’t achieve before.
