At its current discounted price, it presents an appealing option for shooters seeking to stock up without breaking the bank.
As a seasoned outdoorsman, I was seeking an affordable yet dependable ammunition option for my Swedish Mauser. I wanted something accurate enough for target practice, but also suitable for medium-sized game hunting, and the Ppu Ammo 6.5×55 Swedish Mauser 139gr. Jsp 20-pack seemed to fit the bill.
Upon receiving the Ppu Ammo, I was initially impressed with the packaging. The rounds were neatly arranged in a sturdy cardboard box, which offered sufficient protection during shipping. The brass casings appeared clean and well-polished, indicating good quality control.
Compared to premium brands like Norma or Lapua, the Ppu Ammo 6.5×55 Swedish Mauser 139gr. Jsp stands out primarily due to its significantly lower price point. While those higher-end brands boast match-grade accuracy and superior components, they come at a cost that isn’t always justifiable for general-purpose shooting. I chose the Ppu Ammo because it promised a good balance between performance and value, making it ideal for both practice sessions and hunting trips where absolute precision isn’t the only factor.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The ammunition looked well-made, and the price was certainly attractive, but the true test would be its performance downrange. I was excited to see how it would perform in my rifle and whether it could live up to my expectations for accuracy and reliability.
Real-World Testing: Putting Ppu Ammo 6.5×55 Swedish Mauser 139gr. Jsp 20-pack PP6SWS 38% Off to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Ppu Ammo 6.5×55 Swedish Mauser 139gr. Jsp at my local shooting range, under partly cloudy conditions with a slight breeze. My primary focus was on evaluating its accuracy and reliability at distances of 100 and 200 yards. The rifle used was a Swedish Mauser M96.
The Ppu Ammo performed reasonably well under these conditions. The rounds consistently chambered and ejected without any issues, indicating good quality control in the manufacturing process. I experienced no failures to feed or misfires during my initial testing session.
The recoil was manageable and felt similar to other 6.5×55 loads I’ve used in the past. It took a few shots to get a feel for the bullet drop at 200 yards, but after making some minor adjustments to my scope, I was able to maintain consistent groupings. One small issue was slightly more noticeable muzzle flash compared to premium ammunition, although this didn’t significantly impact my shooting experience.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Ppu Ammo 6.5×55 Swedish Mauser 139gr. Jsp has proven to be a reliable and cost-effective option for my shooting needs. I have fired several hundred rounds of this ammunition, and it has consistently performed without any major issues.
The brass casings hold up well to reloading, showing no signs of excessive wear or deformation after multiple firings. This is a significant advantage for reloaders like myself, as it allows me to further reduce my shooting costs by reusing the spent casings. Cleaning the rifle after using Ppu Ammo is straightforward, with no excessive fouling or residue buildup.
Compared to my previous experience with more expensive ammunition, the Ppu Ammo 6.5×55 Swedish Mauser 139gr. Jsp provides a similar level of reliability at a fraction of the cost. While it may not offer the same pinpoint accuracy as match-grade ammunition, it is more than adequate for general-purpose shooting, target practice, and medium-game hunting. It is also a good choice for those who are looking to shoot in CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) and similar competitions.
