First Impressions of Power Calls Beau Brooks Pro Pack Diaph Calls
The Power Calls Beau Brooks Pro Pack Diaph Calls promises to be a game-changer for turkey hunters looking to expand their vocal repertoire. Manufactured by Power Calls, this pack, endorsed by renowned turkey hunter Beau Brooks, contains three distinct diaphragm calls designed to produce a wide range of turkey sounds. As someone who’s spent over a decade chasing gobblers, I’m always on the lookout for calls that can give me an edge in the field, and the promise of versatility in this pack is immediately appealing.
I’ve often found myself limited by a single call, unable to perfectly imitate a specific hen or coax a stubborn gobbler. I needed a system that allowed me to transition seamlessly between different vocalizations to match the mood of the birds. The Beau Brooks Pro Pack’s focus on variety promised to address this very issue.
Upon receiving the Power Calls Beau Brooks Pro Pack Diaph Calls, I was impressed by the packaging and the individual construction of each call. The diaphragm material felt high-quality, and the frame designs seemed thoughtfully crafted. Compared to some cheaper diaphragm calls I’ve used in the past, these felt noticeably more robust.
I considered other diaphragm call packs, such as those from Primos and Woodhaven Custom Calls. I ultimately chose the Power Calls Beau Brooks Pro Pack Diaph Calls because of Beau Brooks’s reputation and the specific descriptions of each call’s intended use. I was excited to see if these calls could truly deliver on their promise of a next-level turkey calling experience. My initial reaction was one of cautious optimism; I was eager to get these calls into the woods and see what they could do.
Real-World Testing: Putting Power Calls Beau Brooks Pro Pack Diaph Calls to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Power Calls Beau Brooks Pro Pack Diaph Calls during the early spring turkey season in the oak and hickory forests of Missouri. The conditions were typical for that time of year: cool mornings with occasional light rain and varying wind conditions. I used the calls in different scenarios, from sitting in a blind overlooking a field to moving through the timber, trying to strike up a gobbler.
The Batwing call, marketed as an easy-to-use all-around call, lived up to its description and proved to be the most intuitive. I quickly grasped the technique for producing yelps, clucks, and purrs. The Mockingbird call took a little more practice to achieve the pure front-end yelps Beau Brooks favors, but with some focused effort, I was able to create some convincing hen sounds. The Cutter, with its intended raspy backend, required the most finesse, demanding precise air control to avoid squeaks and squawks; however, the payoff was worth the effort as it produced some incredibly realistic cutting and raspy yelps. There were no major issues, although I noticed that the calls performed best when kept relatively dry, as excessive moisture could slightly affect the sound quality.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use throughout the turkey season, the Power Calls Beau Brooks Pro Pack Diaph Calls have held up remarkably well. The diaphragm material has shown no signs of tearing or degradation, even with frequent cleaning and use. The frames have maintained their shape, and the calls continue to produce consistent sounds.
Durability has been a definite strong point. I’ve accidentally stepped on one of the calls (thankfully inside its protective case) and it didn’t suffer any damage. Maintenance is straightforward: rinsing with water and air-drying after each use. This simple routine has kept the calls in good working order. Compared to other diaphragm calls I’ve used in the past, the Power Calls pack offers superior durability and consistency. This pack truly outperformed my expectations, offering both versatility and reliability in the field.
