PELTOR Alert FM-Radio Headset Headband Review

Let’s Dive into PELTOR Alert FM-Radio Headset Headband

The PELTOR Alert FM-Radio Headset Headband is PELTOR’s solution for professionals and hobbyists alike who need hearing protection without sacrificing situational awareness and the ability to stay entertained or connected. This headset seamlessly blends occupational safety with personal enjoyment. It offers built-in FM radio and a stereo input for external devices, all while providing crucial noise reduction in loud environments.

For years, I’ve struggled to find hearing protection that didn’t completely isolate me from my surroundings during outdoor activities. I needed something to protect my ears on the range and during land management around the property, but also allowed me to hear range commands or communicate with colleagues while using loud equipment. The promise of FM radio and ambient sound amplification alongside reliable hearing protection instantly piqued my interest.

My initial impression upon unboxing the PELTOR Alert FM-Radio Headset Headband was positive. The build quality felt solid, despite the lightweight design, and the headband provided a comfortable, snug fit. Comparing it to my older passive earmuffs and a pair of electronic earmuffs that lacked radio functionality, the PELTOR headset offered a compelling combination of features for the price.

I was initially excited about the potential to enjoy my favorite radio stations and podcasts while working without needing to constantly remove my hearing protection. That’s a game changer for long days on the range or in the field.

The range was bustling, with plenty of gunfire noise to test the hearing protection capabilities. The headset performed admirably, effectively muffling the sharp reports of firearms while still allowing me to hear range commands and conversations.

I also used the headset while operating a chainsaw to clear brush on my property. It was another challenging environment with loud engine noise and flying debris. The headset protected my hearing exceptionally well, and the ability to listen to FM radio made the task much more enjoyable.

The PELTOR Alert FM-Radio Headset Headband was relatively easy to use. Adjusting the volume and scanning for radio stations was intuitive. I didn’t need much time to get used to the controls.
