The Pelican Vault Small Pistol Case w/ Foam Ghost Gray Made a Bold First Impression
I’ve spent over a decade ensuring firearms and sensitive equipment arrive safe and sound, from the blistering sands of training ranges to the damp forests during hunting season. When I first saw the Pelican Vault Small Pistol Case w/ Foam Ghost Gray, its rugged yet refined design immediately caught my eye. It promised the legendary Pelican protection I trust, in a size perfect for everyday carry and storage.
For years, I’ve relied on larger, bulkier cases. Transporting a single handgun often felt like overkill. I needed something streamlined, durable, and discreet – a case that wouldn’t scream “firearm” to the world. The Pelican Vault Small Pistol Case w/ Foam Ghost Gray seemed to be the answer.
Upon unboxing, the Ghost Gray colorway offered a unique aesthetic. It felt lighter than expected, yet the high-impact polymer radiated quality. The two push-button latches clicked reassuringly, and the heavy-duty handle felt solid in my grip. This case wasn’t just a container; it was a statement about protecting what matters.
Compared to other small pistol cases I’ve used, like the Plano Pistol Case and the cheaper models from generic brands, the Pelican Vault immediately stood out. The Plano case felt flimsy in comparison, and the generics often lacked the secure latching mechanisms. I chose the Pelican Vault for its reputation and promised durability.
My first impression was a surge of confidence. This wasn’t just another piece of gear; it was an investment in peace of mind. I was excited to see how it would perform in real-world scenarios.
Real-World Testing: Putting Pelican Vault Small Pistol Case w/ Foam Ghost Gray to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial test took place at an outdoor shooting range during a particularly damp and blustery weekend. I needed to transport my compact 9mm pistol and several magazines safely. The Pelican Vault Small Pistol Case w/ Foam Ghost Gray proved its worth immediately.
Despite the muddy conditions, the case remained clean and dry inside. The push-button latches were easy to operate even with gloved hands. I found the size to be ideal: compact enough for easy transport, yet spacious enough to comfortably accommodate my pistol and two magazines.
The only initial surprise was the density of the foam. It felt firmer than anticipated, which required slightly more effort to customize for my specific firearm. However, this firmness also instilled confidence in its protective capabilities.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the Pelican Vault Small Pistol Case w/ Foam Ghost Gray has become an indispensable part of my gear. I’ve taken it on numerous range trips, camping excursions, and even a few off-road adventures. It shows minimal signs of wear and tear.
The high-impact polymer shell has resisted scratches and dents remarkably well. The latches continue to function flawlessly, maintaining a tight and secure seal. The Pelican Vault is incredibly easy to clean. A simple wipe-down with a damp cloth removes any dirt or grime.
Compared to my previous soft-sided pistol cases, the Pelican Vault offers vastly superior protection and peace of mind. I no longer worry about my firearm being damaged during transport. It has definitively outperformed expectations.
