The Patriot Pistol Cleaning Kit .45 Caliber Made a Bold First Impression
The Patriot Pistol Cleaning Kit .45 Caliber promises essential firearm maintenance in a compact, USA-made package. As a seasoned outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen countless cleaning kits come and go, many making grandiose claims that fall flat in real-world use. What immediately caught my eye was the “Breech-to-Muzzle” design claim, and the promise of a versatile T-handle/driver tool.
I picked this particular kit because I recently acquired a classic 1911 in .45 ACP and needed a dedicated cleaning kit. My old universal kit was bulky and frankly, not ideal for the specific needs of the .45.
Upon unboxing, I was impressed with the kit’s minimalist approach. The tools felt solid, and the case was surprisingly compact and durable. Compared to other kits in this price range, the Patriot stood out for its perceived quality and the inclusion of driver bits, adding functionality beyond basic cleaning. I was cautiously optimistic, hoping it would live up to its “Made in the USA” promise.
Real-World Testing: Putting Patriot Pistol Cleaning Kit .45 Caliber to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Patriot Pistol Cleaning Kit .45 Caliber immediately after a range session where I put about 200 rounds through my 1911. The range was outdoors, and the day was fairly dusty, leaving a noticeable residue in the barrel and action. Using the included bore brush and patches, I began the cleaning process. The T-handle felt comfortable and provided good leverage.
The included patches absorbed the solvent well, and the bore brush effectively scrubbed away the powder residue.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use (cleaning my 1911 after every range visit), the Patriot Pistol Cleaning Kit .45 Caliber has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of significant wear and tear on any of the tools. Maintaining the kit itself is simple, as the case keeps everything organized and the tools are easily cleaned with solvent. Compared to my previous universal kit, the Patriot is far more effective and convenient for cleaning my .45.
