First Impressions of PARD Optics NV008SP2 850 6.5-13x70mm Night Vision Rifle Scope
The PARD Optics NV008SP2 850 6.5-13x70mm Night Vision Rifle Scope promises to be a game-changer in the world of nocturnal hunting and tactical applications. Offered by PARD Optics, a company known for its innovative digital optics, this scope boasts features like a built-in laser rangefinder, high-resolution display, and impressive low-light sensitivity. The compact design and integrated video recording capabilities immediately piqued my interest, suggesting a blend of advanced technology and practical field use.
My need for a reliable night vision solution stemmed from increasingly frequent nighttime hog hunts on my property. The damage these feral pigs inflict on crops is significant, and traditional methods of control are often ineffective. I was seeking a scope that could extend my hunting hours and provide a clear, accurate view in complete darkness, without breaking the bank.
The unboxing experience was surprisingly positive. The scope felt solid and well-constructed, despite its relatively light weight. The aircraft-grade aluminum mounting bracket looked robust and easy to install. Initial impressions suggested that PARD Optics had prioritized both functionality and portability.
I considered the ATN X-Sight 4K Pro and the Sightmark Wraith HD before ultimately choosing the PARD Optics NV008SP2. While the ATN offered a wider range of features, its complex interface and higher price point were deterrents. The Sightmark Wraith HD, though more affordable, lacked the integrated laser rangefinder, a feature I considered essential for ethical long-range shots in low-light conditions.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The features looked promising, but I was eager to see how the PARD Optics NV008SP2 performed in the field. The built-in ballistic calculator and video recording functionality definitely sparked my interest.
Real-World Testing: Putting PARD Optics NV008SP2 850 6.5-13x70mm Night Vision Rifle Scope to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial field test of the PARD Optics NV008SP2 took place during a nighttime hog hunt on my property in central Texas. The weather was cool and damp, with a light drizzle adding an extra layer of challenge. Mounting the scope to my AR-15 was straightforward, thanks to the included aluminum bracket.
The scope performed admirably in the low-light conditions. The VCSEL 850nm IR illuminator provided ample illumination out to around 250 yards. The image clarity on the 1280×960 OLED display was excellent.
There was a slight learning curve in navigating the menu system and adjusting the ballistic calculator settings. However, after a few minutes of tinkering, I felt comfortable with the interface. I experienced a few minor glitches with the video recording feature, but overall the first-time use was positive.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use, the PARD Optics NV008SP2 has proven to be a reliable and effective night vision scope. It has held zero consistently through numerous range sessions and hunting trips. The scope’s durability has been impressive.
I’ve encountered no significant signs of wear and tear, despite exposing it to harsh weather conditions and rough handling. Cleaning is relatively simple, requiring only a soft cloth and lens cleaner. Compared to my previous night vision monocular, the PARD Optics NV008SP2 offers a far superior viewing experience and significantly improved accuracy at longer ranges.
