The Pachmayr Tactical Grip Glove Slip-On Mossberg Shockwave/Remington Tac-14 Rubber Black Made a Bold First Impression
The Pachmayr Tactical Grip Glove Slip-On Mossberg Shockwave/Remington Tac-14 Rubber Black promises enhanced control and comfort for two of the most popular compact firearms on the market. As someone who’s spent over a decade wrestling with different tactical platforms, I was eager to see if this simple accessory could truly tame the beastly recoil of the Shockwave and Tac-14. I hoped to find if it justified the Pachmayr reputation for quality grips.
My journey to this particular grip glove was born out of necessity. After putting countless rounds through my Mossberg Shockwave, I noticed significant hand fatigue and a less-than-ideal grip, especially when firing heavier loads. I considered aggressive stippling or aftermarket grip replacements but wanted a non-permanent, cost-effective solution first.
Upon receiving the Pachmayr Tactical Grip Glove, my first impression was surprisingly positive. The thick, black rubber felt substantial and offered a reassuring tactile feel right out of the package. The simple slip-on design was intuitive, and the material exhibited a level of quality I’ve come to expect from Pachmayr.
Compared to options like Hogue HandAll Beavertail Grip Sleeve or generic neoprene sleeves, the Pachmayr stood out due to its tailored fit and the company’s proven track record. I chose it hoping for a balance of comfort, control, and durability, characteristics often lacking in universal grip solutions. My initial excitement stemmed from the promise of improved handling without permanently altering the firearm.
Real-World Testing: Putting Pachmayr Tactical Grip Glove Slip-On Mossberg Shockwave/Remington Tac-14 Rubber Black to the Test
First Use Experience
My first range session with the Pachmayr Tactical Grip Glove on my Shockwave took place on a brisk fall afternoon. The conditions were dry but slightly cool, providing a good test for grip in less-than-ideal weather. I ran a mix of birdshot, buckshot, and a few slugs to gauge the glove’s performance across different recoil levels.
Installation was a breeze, taking less than a minute. Immediately, the enhanced grip was noticeable, providing a more secure and comfortable hold. The difference in felt recoil, particularly with the heavier slug rounds, was significant, reducing hand fatigue considerably. There were no slippage issues during firing.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Pachmayr grip glove has held up remarkably well. I have put approximately 500 rounds through my Shockwave with the grip installed. There are no signs of tearing or significant wear and tear.
The Pachmayr material remains pliable and maintains its grippy texture, even after exposure to cleaning solvents and extended storage. Cleaning is simple, requiring only a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth. It has definitely outperformed my expectations for a slip-on grip, offering a level of durability and comfort comparable to more expensive, permanent solutions.
