Pachmayr RP200 Sure Grip Pad Med Black Black Base Review

The Pachmayr RP200 Sure Grip Pad Med Black Black Base Made a Bold First Impression

The Pachmayr RP200 Sure Grip Pad Med Black Black Base promises enhanced grip and control, something I’m always seeking to improve in my shooting experience. As someone with over a decade in the outdoor and tactical gear world, I’ve seen countless grip solutions come and go, each promising the moon. This one, with its simple design and Pachmayr pedigree, intrigued me enough to give it a shot.

For years, I struggled with the factory grips on my favorite .45, particularly during long range sessions in humid conditions. My hands would get sweaty, and maintaining a solid grip became a real chore. I had considered stippling, but didn’t want to permanently alter my firearm. I needed an aftermarket solution that wouldn’t break the bank or require gunsmithing skills. This seemed like the perfect middle ground.

Upon unboxing, the Pachmayr pad felt solid and well-made. The black rubber compound had a slightly tacky feel, which was immediately promising. The black base was clean and integrated well with the overall design. Compared to some of the overly aggressive, textured grips I’ve seen, this one looked refined and functional. While I also considered Hogue grips and Talon Grips, I was drawn to Pachmayr‘s reputation for quality rubber and the classic, understated look.

My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The pad felt good in my hand, but the real test would be how it performed on the range. I was excited to see if it lived up to the Pachmayr name and provided the enhanced grip I desperately needed.

Real-World Testing: Putting Pachmayr RP200 Sure Grip Pad Med Black Black Base to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial range trip with the Pachmayr RP200 Sure Grip Pad Med Black Black Base was eye-opening. I tested it on my 1911, a firearm known for its powerful recoil and need for a secure grip. The weather was slightly humid, a condition where I typically struggle with grip.

The difference was immediately noticeable. The Sure Grip pad provided a secure and comfortable hold, even with sweaty hands. I felt more in control of the pistol, and my groupings tightened up significantly. There was no slippage or shifting during rapid fire. It was a significant improvement over the factory grips. The installation was easy and required no tools. No issues after the first use.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of consistent use, the Pachmayr RP200 Sure Grip Pad Med Black Black Base continues to impress. It has proven to be incredibly durable, showing no signs of wear and tear despite repeated use. The rubber compound has maintained its tackiness and hasn’t hardened or cracked.

Cleaning is a breeze; a quick wipe down with a damp cloth is all it takes to remove dirt and grime.
