The Outdoor Connection Super Grip Sling with QD Swivel FDE Made a Bold First Impression
The Outdoor Connection Super Grip Sling with QD Swivel FDE arrived, and my initial reaction was, “Finally, a sling that seems built for the real world.” After years of struggling with subpar slings that dig into my shoulder or constantly slip, I was hoping for something that could truly deliver on comfort and security. The Outdoor Connection brand isn’t always known for top-tier innovation, but sometimes, simple and functional is exactly what you need.
I had been searching for a sling offering quick detach (QD) swivels and a comfortable shoulder pad. My old sling, a generic nylon strap, was causing serious discomfort during long hunts. I considered high-end options from Magpul and Blue Force Gear, but the Outdoor Connection sling’s affordable price and promising features caught my eye.
Unboxing the Outdoor Connection Super Grip Sling with QD Swivel FDE, the first thing I noticed was the shoulder pad. It felt substantial and grippy, promising a noticeable improvement over my previous experience. The mil-spec webbing looked durable, and the QD swivels appeared to be of decent quality, although time will tell how they hold up.
Compared to the Magpul MS1 sling, the Outdoor Connection sling is noticeably less expensive. The MS1 offers more modularity, but the Super Grip Sling prioritizes straightforward functionality. Similarly, the Blue Force Gear Vickers sling is renowned for its quick adjustability, but it comes at a premium price. I chose the Outdoor Connection sling because it seemed to offer the best balance of essential features and affordability.
My first impression was cautiously optimistic. The materials felt good, the design seemed practical, and the price was definitely right. I was eager to see how the Outdoor Connection Super Grip Sling with QD Swivel FDE would perform in the field.

I first tested the Outdoor Connection Super Grip Sling with QD Swivel FDE at my local shooting range during a carbine course. It was a humid day, and I was putting my AR-15 through its paces. The sling was attached using the QD swivels to the corresponding mounts on my rifle.
The non-slip rubber shoulder pad truly shined. Even with sweat building up, the sling stayed firmly in place, distributing the weight of my rifle evenly. The rapid one-hand adjustment feature proved to be incredibly useful for transitioning between different shooting positions.
There were no immediate issues. The sling performed as advertised, and the thumb loop provided a comfortable and secure grip.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, including multiple range trips and a weekend-long hunting trip, the Outdoor Connection Super Grip Sling with QD Swivel FDE has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of significant wear and tear. The mil-spec webbing remains strong, and the stitching is still intact.
Cleaning is simple; a quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient. The rubber shoulder pad hasn’t shown any signs of cracking or deterioration. Compared to my previous sling, the Outdoor Connection sling is a night and day difference in terms of comfort and stability.
