Outdoor Connection 1″ Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Padded Super Sl Review

The Outdoor Connection 1″ Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Padded Super Sl Made a Bold First Impression

The Outdoor Connection 1″ Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Padded Super Sl isn’t just another sling; it’s a statement. Outdoor Connection promises comfort, adjustability, and a seamless blend into the hunter’s world with its Mossy Oak Shadow Grass camo. I was hoping for a reliable and comfortable sling that wouldn’t break the bank.

I needed a sling that could comfortably support the weight of my hunting rifle during long treks, offered quick adjustability for varying shooting positions, and wouldn’t stand out like a sore thumb in the field. My old sling was digging into my shoulder, lacked easy adjustability, and the bright color screamed “rookie.” This led me to searching for a replacement.

Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the thickness of the padding and the quality of the stitching. The Mossy Oak Shadow Grass camo looked authentic, a definite upgrade from my previous sling. The neoprene felt substantial, and the leather accents gave it a touch of class, which I appreciated.

I considered the Allen Company Ruger Rifle Sling and the Butler Creek Easy Rider Sling before settling on the Outdoor Connection model. The Ruger sling seemed less padded, and the Butler Creek lacked the appealing camo pattern. The Outdoor Connection 1″ Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Padded Super Sl appeared to offer the best combination of comfort, functionality, and aesthetics for the price.

My initial reaction was positive. I was excited to try it out in the field. It seemed well-made, comfortable, and the camo pattern was exactly what I was looking for.

Real-World Testing: Putting Outdoor Connection 1″ Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Padded Super Sl to the Test

First Use Experience

My first outing with the Outdoor Connection 1″ Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Padded Super Sl was on a week-long deer hunt in the Texas Hill Country. I tested it in various conditions, from early morning dampness to the dry heat of midday. The terrain was rugged, requiring me to hike several miles each day.

The Outdoor Connection 1″ Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Padded Super Sl performed admirably, even in challenging weather conditions. The neoprene padding remained comfortable despite the dampness, and the nylon exterior proved to be water-resistant. Adjusting the sling with one hand was surprisingly easy, allowing me to quickly transition from a relaxed carry to a ready-to-shoot position.

One minor issue arose during the first use: the detachable swivels initially squeaked a bit, but a drop of gun oil quickly resolved the problem. The swivels appeared to be sturdy and well-made. They also provided a secure connection to my rifle’s mounting points.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of regular use, the Outdoor Connection 1″ Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Padded Super Sl has held up exceptionally well. There are no signs of significant wear and tear. The stitching remains intact, and the padding retains its shape and comfort.

Maintenance is a breeze; a quick wipe down with a damp cloth is all that’s needed to keep it clean. The 1000-denier nylon exterior resists dirt and stains effectively. I have also noticed that the suede backing helps prevent slippage on my clothing, which is a significant improvement over my previous sling.

Compared to my previous experiences with cheaper slings, the Outdoor Connection 1″ Mossy Oak Shadow Grass Padded Super Sl is a significant upgrade. It provides superior comfort, adjustability, and durability. It exceeded my expectations for a sling in this price range.
