Real-World Testing: Putting Olight Osight 1x Reflex Red Dot Sight to the Test

First Use Experience

I first tested the Olight Osight 1x Reflex Red Dot Sight at an indoor shooting range. I mounted it on my FN FNX-45 and ran through several drills, focusing on target acquisition and accuracy. The 3 MOA dot was crisp and easy to see.

The range had varying light conditions, perfect for testing the auto-brightness. The auto-sensing mode adapted well to the changing light. It made the dot intensity comfortable in both bright and dim areas. There were no immediate issues, and the sight held zero through the first 100 rounds.

The ease of use was a pleasant surprise. The windage and elevation adjustments were straightforward. I quickly zeroed the optic with minimal fuss.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of use, the Olight Osight 1x Reflex Red Dot Sight has proven to be relatively reliable. I’ve put it through several range sessions, totaling over 500 rounds. It has also been exposed to various weather conditions.

The durability has been acceptable, with only minor signs of wear on the finish. The optic has maintained zero. I did notice the auto-brightness sensor occasionally lagged in very rapid light changes.

Maintenance is simple. A quick wipe with a microfiber cloth keeps the lens clean. The magnetic charging cover is also easy to use. The long battery life is a real benefit, reducing the need for frequent charging. It outperforms some cheaper red dots I’ve used in the past in terms of brightness adjustment and clarity.
