My quest for this specific round started with a persistent coyote problem encroaching on my livestock. I needed something with pinpoint accuracy out to 300 yards and enough punch to ethically dispatch these predators. I was previously using a heavier grain bullet but found it lacked the velocity I desired for flatter trajectories.
The moment I unboxed the Nosler Match Grade ammunition, I was impressed. The brass casings gleamed, each round meticulously seated with the sleek, polymer-tipped bullets. The overall presentation screamed “quality,” a stark contrast to some bulk ammo I’ve used in the past.
I’ve primarily relied on Hornady and Federal match-grade ammunition for my Grendel. I chose to try Nosler because of their reputation for consistent loads and superior bullet design. I was excited, anticipating a noticeable improvement in both accuracy and terminal ballistics.

First Use Experience
My initial testing took place at my usual shooting range, under relatively calm conditions with a slight crosswind. I fired from a bench rest at 100, 200, and 300 yards to get a feel for the bullet’s trajectory and accuracy. The first five-shot group at 100 yards was almost a single ragged hole.
I also had the opportunity to test the ammunition during a late-season prairie dog hunt in South Dakota. The conditions were dry and dusty, with wind gusts up to 20 mph. Even in these challenging conditions, the Nosler Match Grade ammunition delivered consistent and accurate shots.
The ammunition loaded smoothly into my AR-15 platform rifle, and I experienced no feeding or extraction issues. The recoil was manageable, even with the lighter 90-grain bullet. It was immediately apparent that the Nosler Match Grade ammunition was exceptionally consistent.
There were no initial surprises, other than the pleasant one of how incredibly accurate the ammunition was. It consistently delivered sub-MOA groups right out of the box, a level of performance I hadn’t achieved with other factory loads in my Grendel.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months and hundreds of rounds fired, the Nosler Match Grade ammunition continues to perform flawlessly. I’ve used it in temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 90 degrees Fahrenheit, without any noticeable change in performance. There have been no failures to fire or any other malfunctions related to the ammunition.
The brass casings show no signs of excessive wear or deformation after firing, making them suitable for reloading. The polymer tips remain securely seated, even after being subjected to the jostling of transportation and handling. This speaks to the quality of construction and attention to detail that Nosler puts into their ammunition.
Maintaining accuracy and consistency is paramount, and the Nosler Match Grade ammunition has exceeded my expectations. It consistently delivers tighter groups and more predictable trajectories than any other factory load I’ve tested in my 6.5 Grendel.
