What Makes Norsso P320 XAS Compact Slide Stand Out?
The Norsso P320 XAS Compact Slide from Norsso aims to be a high-performance upgrade for the Sig Sauer P320 platform. It promises enhanced aesthetics, improved slide manipulation, and optic compatibility. With its aggressive styling, multiple windows, and RMR cut, the Norsso P320 XAS Compact Slide seeks to elevate the P320 from a functional pistol to a customized, high-performance firearm.
My search for a slide began after experiencing consistent issues racking the factory slide on my P320 compact, particularly in adverse weather conditions. I needed a slide that offered improved grip and positive manipulation, along with the ability to mount a red dot optic for faster target acquisition.
Upon unboxing the Norsso P320 XAS Compact Slide, I was immediately struck by its aggressive aesthetics and high-quality feel. The slide boasts sharp lines, deep serrations, and precisely machined windows, giving it a distinct, custom look. The weight feels appropriate, not overly heavy, but substantial enough to inspire confidence in its durability.
I was also considering slides from ZEV Technologies and Agency Arms. Ultimately, I chose the Norsso P320 XAS Compact Slide because of its unique design elements, purported improved grip, and relatively attractive price point compared to the other two.
My initial impression was excitement; the slide appears to be a significant upgrade in both form and function. I was eager to install it on my P320 and see how it performed on the range.
Real-World Testing: Putting Norsso P320 XAS Compact Slide to the Test
First Use Experience
My first experience with the Norsso P320 XAS Compact Slide was at an outdoor shooting range in mixed weather conditions (sunny with intermittent light rain). I tested it on my Sig Sauer P320 compact frame, using a 3.9″ barrel and a Trijicon RMR red dot sight.
The slide’s enhanced serrations made racking significantly easier, even with wet hands. Target acquisition with the RMR was quick and intuitive, and the slide cycled reliably through several magazines of 9mm ammunition. I did not need time to get used to the new slide; the improved grip and smooth cycling were noticeable immediately.
Initially, I observed slightly increased muzzle flip compared to the factory slide, possibly due to the reduced weight from the slide windows. However, this was easily manageable and did not significantly impact accuracy.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months and hundreds of rounds, the Norsso P320 XAS Compact Slide has proven to be remarkably durable. There are no signs of excessive wear, and the finish remains in excellent condition.
Cleaning and maintenance are straightforward; the slide disassembles easily, and the finish resists carbon buildup. It continues to cycle reliably with a variety of 9mm ammunition types.
Compared to my previous experiences with the factory P320 slide, the Norsso P320 XAS Compact Slide offers superior grip, easier manipulation, and the added benefit of red dot optic compatibility. It has exceeded my expectations in terms of both performance and aesthetics.
