Let’s Dive into Newcon Optik LRM 1800S 7x25mm Laser Rangefinder Monocular
The Newcon Optik LRM 1800S 7x25mm Laser Rangefinder Monocular is a compact and powerful optic designed for professionals and enthusiasts who demand accurate distance measurements and clear observation. Manufactured by Newcon Optik, a leader in advanced optical systems, this monocular combines a 7x magnification with a laser rangefinder capable of reaching out to 1800 meters. Its integrated speed detection and bright TOLED display make it a versatile tool for various applications.
As an outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve always been on the lookout for a reliable rangefinder that offers both excellent optics and long-range capabilities. I needed something compact and lightweight that wouldn’t weigh me down on long backcountry hunts or tactical training exercises, and the LRM 1800S seemed to fit the bill perfectly. This prompted me to purchase one and test its real-world performance.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed by the Newcon Optik LRM 1800S‘s rugged yet compact design. It felt solid and well-built in my hand, reassuring me of its ability to withstand the rigors of outdoor use. The weight was noticeably lighter than some of the bulkier rangefinders I’ve used, a major plus for portability.
Compared to the Bushnell Elite 1 Mile CONX or the Leica Rangemaster CRF 2400-R, the Newcon Optik LRM 1800S stood out due to its combination of compact size, long-range capability, and integrated speed detector. While the Bushnell offered similar ranging performance, it lacked the streamlined design. The Leica, known for its exceptional optics, came at a significantly higher price point without offering the speed detection feature.
My first impression was one of excitement mixed with anticipation. I was eager to put the Newcon Optik LRM 1800S 7x25mm Laser Rangefinder Monocular through its paces and see if it lived up to the hype.
Real-World Testing: Putting Newcon Optik LRM 1800S 7x25mm Laser Rangefinder Monocular to the Test
First Use Experience
I initially tested the Newcon Optik LRM 1800S at a local shooting range, where I needed to quickly and accurately determine the distances to various targets. The monocular performed flawlessly, providing instant range readings even on smaller, non-reflective targets. The conditions were sunny and clear, allowing the TOLED display to shine brightly, ensuring easy readability.
Later, I took the LRM 1800S on a backcountry elk hunt in the Rocky Mountains. The weather was unpredictable, ranging from sunny skies to light snow and drizzle. Even in these challenging conditions, the rangefinder consistently delivered accurate readings. I found the 7x magnification to be perfect for scanning the terrain and identifying distant animals.
The Newcon Optik LRM 1800S was incredibly easy to use right out of the box. The single-button operation for ranging and speed detection was intuitive, and I didn’t need to consult the manual. I was pleasantly surprised by its consistent performance in varying light conditions and terrain.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of frequent use, the Newcon Optik LRM 1800S has proven to be incredibly reliable and durable. I’ve taken it on multiple hunting trips, hiking expeditions, and even used it for surveying property lines. It has held up exceptionally well to the bumps, scrapes, and occasional drops that come with outdoor use.
Despite being subjected to mud, rain, and dust, the LRM 1800S shows no signs of wear and tear. The housing remains solid, and the optics are still crystal clear. The battery life is impressive.
Cleaning the Newcon Optik LRM 1800S is simple. A quick wipe with a lens cloth keeps the optics clean, and the exterior can be wiped down with a damp cloth. Compared to previous rangefinders I’ve owned, the LRM 1800S outperforms them in terms of both range and durability.
