The NCStar VISM Sling 1.25″ 55″-72″ Adjustable Bungee Tan Nylon Strap w/Elastic Shock-Cord 2or1 Point Sling Made a Bold First Impression
As a seasoned outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen my fair share of slings. The NCStar VISM Sling 1.25″ 55″-72″ Adjustable Bungee Tan Nylon Strap w/Elastic Shock-Cord 2or1 Point Sling promised versatility and affordability, a combination that always piques my interest. Could this sub-$20 sling truly deliver on its potential?
I needed a sling that could quickly transition between a two-point configuration for steady carrying during hunts and a single-point setup for dynamic shooting drills. My old sling, a more expensive model from a well-known brand, had a cumbersome adjustment system, slowing me down in critical moments. I was hoping the NCStar VISM Sling would provide a faster, more intuitive solution.
Upon unboxing, I was pleasantly surprised by the apparent build quality. The nylon strap felt reasonably durable, and the metal spring clips seemed robust enough for regular use. The NCStar VISM Sling’s tan color was also a practical choice, blending well with most of my gear.
Compared to a Blue Force Gear Vickers Combat Applications Sling and a Magpul MS4 GEN2 Dual QD Sling, the NCStar VISM Sling lacked the premium feel of those models. However, both of those slings are significantly more expensive, setting my expectations accordingly. My initial impression was cautiously optimistic – a budget-friendly sling that might just surprise me with its functionality.
Real-World Testing: Putting NCStar VISM Sling 1.25″ 55″-72″ Adjustable Bungee Tan Nylon Strap w/Elastic Shock-Cord 2or1 Point Sling to the Test
First Use Experience
My first field test was at a local shooting range, practicing transitions with my AR-15. I immediately appreciated the quick adjustability of the NCStar VISM Sling. Switching between a comfortable carry position and a tight, stable shooting stance was far easier than with my previous sling.
The bungee section also proved its worth, absorbing recoil and providing a small amount of give that reduced fatigue during extended shooting sessions. The plastic quick-connect buckles functioned smoothly, allowing me to detach the rifle rapidly when needed. One minor issue arose when the metal clip rubbed against the receiver, causing a slight scratch in the finish – something to watch out for.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use during range trips and a weekend hunting excursion, the NCStar VISM Sling has held up surprisingly well. The nylon strap shows no signs of fraying or tearing, and the metal spring clips remain secure. Cleaning the sling is simple – a quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove dirt and grime.
While the bungee section has retained its elasticity, I noticed some slight stretching compared to its initial tension. Compared to my experiences with premium slings, the NCStar VISM Sling doesn’t offer the same level of long-term durability, but given its price point, it has definitely exceeded my expectations. The NCStar VISM Sling is a reliable sling for the price.
