The NCStar Left Side Folding Stock Adapter Black Polymer works with DLG Tactical Adaptor Grip promises to offer a convenient solution for AR and similar firearm owners looking to reduce the overall length of their firearm for storage and maneuverability. Made by NCStar, this adapter is designed to work specifically with the DLG Tactical Adaptor Grip, providing a left-side folding mechanism. I’ve always struggled with storing my VRF14 pistol due to its overall length. A folding stock adapter seemed like the perfect solution to make it more compact for transport and storage in my gun safe.
Upon unboxing, the polymer construction felt surprisingly sturdy for the price. The black finish was clean and consistent, and the adapter itself felt solid, although noticeably lighter than some metal alternatives I’ve seen.
I considered other folding adapters, some with more robust metal construction, but they were significantly more expensive. The NCStar option seemed like a worthwhile gamble, especially given the positive user feedback regarding ease of installation and functionality. My initial impression was cautiously optimistic – if it performed as advertised, it would be a fantastic value.
Real-World Testing: Putting **NCStar Left Side Folding Stock Adapter Black Polymer works with DLG Tactical Adaptor Grip** to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the NCStar Left Side Folding Stock Adapter Black Polymer works with DLG Tactical Adaptor Grip on my VRF14 pistol at my local shooting range. Installation was straightforward, as the user feedback suggested; it took only a few minutes with basic tools. The folding mechanism operated smoothly, and the stock locked securely in both open and folded positions.
The range was dry and sunny, providing ideal conditions for testing. The adapter added a comfortable cheek weld when the stock was extended, though the polymer felt less substantial than a metal option. There were no immediate issues with the folding mechanism or the security of the lockup.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several range trips and approximately 500 rounds fired with the adapter installed, it has held up reasonably well. There are a few minor scratches on the polymer, but no cracks or significant signs of wear. Maintenance has been minimal; I simply wipe it down with a cloth after each use.
The folding mechanism still operates smoothly, although there is a slight amount of play in the lockup when the stock is extended. Compared to other, more expensive, metal folding stock adapters I’ve used in the past, the NCStar adapter is clearly not as robust, but it has met my expectations for its price point. The adapter hasn’t disappointed and performed as expected.
