The NCStar Compact PCP52 Mil-Spec Stock Black Synthetic Collapsible with Adjustable Cheekpiece Made a Bold First Impression
The NCStar Compact PCP52 Mil-Spec Stock Black Synthetic Collapsible with Adjustable Cheekpiece arrived in a simple, no-frills package, a stark contrast to some of the high-end, over-packaged stocks I’ve seen over the years. Coming from NCStar, a company known for its budget-friendly options, I wasn’t expecting a luxury unboxing experience. My first thought was, “Can this sub-$30 stock actually deliver?”
I was looking for a cost-effective upgrade for my AR-15 build, something that would provide a more comfortable and adjustable cheek weld for precision shooting. I’ve been dealing with neck strain after long range sessions using a standard A2 stock. The promise of an adjustable cheekpiece at this price point was incredibly enticing.
The stock itself felt surprisingly solid for its price. The synthetic material seemed durable enough, and the adjustments, while not as buttery smooth as some premium options, felt secure. The weight was noticeably lighter than my old stock, which I appreciated.
I considered a Magpul MOE stock and a BCM Gunfighter stock, both excellent options, but their price tags were significantly higher. I ultimately chose the NCStar Compact PCP52 Mil-Spec Stock Black Synthetic Collapsible with Adjustable Cheekpiece because of its combination of adjustability, compact size, and unbelievably low price. It felt like a worthwhile gamble.
I was initially skeptical, but the combination of positive user reviews and the appealing price tag made me cautiously optimistic. The NCStar Compact PCP52 Mil-Spec Stock Black Synthetic Collapsible with Adjustable Cheekpiece presents a compelling argument for budget-conscious builders.
Real-World Testing: Putting NCStar Compact PCP52 Mil-Spec Stock Black Synthetic Collapsible with Adjustable Cheekpiece to the Test
First Use Experience
My first range trip with the NCStar Compact PCP52 Mil-Spec Stock Black Synthetic Collapsible with Adjustable Cheekpiece was at my local outdoor range, under sunny skies and moderate temperatures. I was primarily focusing on distance shooting, zeroing in my scope at 100 and 200 yards. The adjustable cheekpiece was the first thing I wanted to evaluate.
It took a few minutes to dial in the cheek weld to my preferred height. Once adjusted, however, the stock provided a significantly more stable and consistent cheek placement than my previous fixed stock. The non-slip rubber buttpad helped keep the rifle firmly planted against my shoulder, improving recoil management.
One minor issue arose during rapid firing drills. The adjustment lever for the cheekpiece felt a little flimsy under the increased recoil, requiring me to re-tighten it after a few magazine dumps. Otherwise, the initial range session was positive, especially considering the stock’s budget-friendly price point.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the NCStar Compact PCP52 Mil-Spec Stock Black Synthetic Collapsible with Adjustable Cheekpiece has held up surprisingly well. There are some minor scuff marks on the synthetic material, but nothing that affects its functionality. The adjustable cheekpiece is still secure, although I’ve made it a habit to check the tightness of the adjustment lever before each range session.
I haven’t noticed any significant wear and tear on the buffer tube interface. The stock slides smoothly and locks firmly into each of the adjustment positions. Cleaning is simple; a quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient.
Compared to my previous stock, the NCStar Compact PCP52 Mil-Spec Stock Black Synthetic Collapsible with Adjustable Cheekpiece provides a noticeable improvement in comfort and accuracy, especially during extended range sessions. The adjustability is a game-changer for dialing in the perfect cheek weld. It has significantly decreased neck strain.
