Maxpedition Entity 27 CCW-Enabled Laptop Backpack, 27L Review

Let’s Talk About Maxpedition Entity 27 CCW-Enabled Laptop Backpack, 27L

The Maxpedition Entity 27 CCW-Enabled Laptop Backpack, 27L isn’t just another bag; it’s a meticulously designed piece of gear from Maxpedition, built for those who demand functionality, durability, and discreet carry. With its 27-liter capacity, dedicated laptop compartment, and concealed carry capabilities, this backpack blends seamlessly into urban and tactical environments alike. Its low-profile aesthetic belies a wealth of well-thought-out features, making it a standout option for professionals, travelers, and prepared individuals.

My search for the Maxpedition Entity 27 began when I needed a reliable and adaptable backpack that could handle my daily commute, weekend range trips, and occasional overnight excursions. I was specifically looking for something that offered dedicated laptop protection, comfortable carry, and the ability to discreetly carry a firearm when necessary. Other backpacks I’d used felt either too tactical or too civilian, lacking the versatility I needed.

Upon receiving the Maxpedition Entity 27, my initial impression was one of quality and understated ruggedness. The Kodra fabric felt incredibly durable, and the stitching was impeccable. The backpack felt substantial without being overly heavy, and the overall design exuded a sense of thoughtful engineering.

I considered the 5.11 Tactical Rush 24 and the Vertx Gamut as alternatives. The Rush 24 felt too overtly tactical for my needs, and the Gamut, while well-designed, was significantly more expensive. The Maxpedition Entity 27 struck the perfect balance of features, price, and discreet appearance.

I was immediately impressed and excited about the potential of the Maxpedition Entity 27. It felt like the perfect blend of tactical functionality and everyday usability, a backpack that could handle whatever I threw at it without drawing unwanted attention. This bag felt like it would stand the test of time.

First Use Experience

My first real test of the Maxpedition Entity 27 was a week-long trip that included a day at the shooting range and several days of urban exploration. At the range, the CCW compartment proved invaluable for safely and discreetly transporting my handgun. The padded laptop compartment kept my laptop secure during travel, and the ample storage space swallowed all my gear with room to spare.

The backpack performed admirably in varying conditions. A brief rain shower proved the water resistance of the Kodra fabric, keeping my electronics dry. The padded shoulder straps and adjustable sternum strap provided comfortable carry even when the pack was fully loaded.

Using the Maxpedition Entity 27 felt intuitive from the start. The placement of the pockets and compartments made sense, and the quick-release buckles on the shoulder straps allowed for easy on-off adjustments. The only slight issue was getting used to the magnetic tuckable wings, but I quickly adapted.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Maxpedition Entity 27 blended into urban environments. Despite its tactical features, it didn’t scream “military,” allowing me to move through crowded areas without attracting unwanted attention. This was a major advantage over more overtly tactical packs I’d used in the past.

Maintaining the Maxpedition Entity 27 is simple. I typically wipe it down with a damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. For more stubborn stains, a mild detergent works wonders. The pack dries quickly and retains its shape even after washing.

The Maxpedition Entity 27 significantly outperforms other backpacks I’ve owned in terms of durability, comfort, and functionality.
