The MARINE Tactical Shotgun Forend Spike Attachment Compatible with T R Imports RZ17HD 12GA Made a Bold First Impression
The MARINE Tactical Shotgun Forend Spike Attachment Compatible with T R Imports RZ17HD 12GA arrived promising a transformation of my trusted T R Imports RZ17HD 12GA into a more versatile and intimidating tool. I’ve always been a proponent of practical modifications, and the idea of adding a robust forend spike intrigued me with its potential for enhanced control and, let’s be honest, a bit of added “deterrent” factor. This addition promised to bridge the gap between a standard shotgun and a more specialized tactical implement.
My primary motivation for seeking out this product stemmed from a need for improved weapon retention in close-quarters scenarios, a skill I actively practice in force-on-force training. I wanted a forend that provided a more secure grip and, if necessary, could be used defensively. The online photos showcased an aggressive design, prompting me to see how it would feel.
Unboxing the MARINE Tactical Shotgun Forend Spike Attachment Compatible with T R Imports RZ17HD 12GA, my immediate impression was one of solid construction. The steel felt substantial, and the spike tips were sharply defined, definitely not something you’d want to accidentally brush against. The matte black finish, while simple, gave it a purposeful, no-nonsense aesthetic.
I considered alternatives like the ATI Halo Heatshield, which provides a heat shield and some grip enhancement, but lacks the aggressive spike design. I also looked at some modular forends with Picatinny rails, but they added bulk without addressing my core need for enhanced grip and defensive capability. Ultimately, the MARINE Tactical Shotgun Forend Spike Attachment Compatible with T R Imports RZ17HD 12GA won out due to its focused design and promised ease of installation.
Initially, I felt a mix of excitement and slight trepidation. I was eager to see how it would perform, but also aware that an improperly designed spike could be more of a hindrance than a help. Would it truly enhance control, or would it just be an aesthetic modification that got in the way?

I first tested the MARINE Tactical Shotgun Forend Spike Attachment Compatible with T R Imports RZ17HD 12GA at my local shooting range, focusing on drills that involved rapid target acquisition and transitions. The weather was dry and mild, making for ideal testing conditions. Right away, I noticed the difference in grip.
The spike design, while aggressive, provided a surprisingly comfortable and secure hold, especially when pushing the shotgun forward into my shoulder during recoil. It did take a few magazines to get used to the feel of the spikes against my support hand, but after that, it became second nature. There were no immediate issues.
