First Impressions of Magpul MAG1312-RGR MS1 Lite Sling Ranger Green Nylon 48″- 60″ OAL Rifle

The Magpul MAG1312-RGR MS1 Lite Sling Ranger Green Nylon 48″- 60″ OAL Rifle is Magpul’s streamlined answer to the standard rifle sling. Boasting a custom-woven 1-inch nylon webbing, this sling prioritizes lightweight functionality and snag-free operation. Its ranger green color offers a tactical aesthetic, and its adjustable length caters to various body types and weapon configurations, making it a potentially versatile option for shooters of all kinds.

My search for a new sling began after a particularly frustrating hunting trip. My old, bulky sling constantly snagged on branches, rattled against my rifle, and ultimately proved more of a hindrance than a help. I needed something lighter, simpler, and less prone to causing noise.

Upon unboxing, the first thing that struck me was the Magpul sling’s minimalist design. The ranger green nylon felt durable yet surprisingly lightweight, and the overall construction seemed robust. There were no unnecessary straps, buckles, or padding – just a clean, simple sling.

I considered the Blue Force Gear Vickers Combat Applications Sling and the VTAC Wide Padded Sling. I ultimately chose the Magpul MS1 Lite due to its streamlined profile and reputation for durability, hoping it would resolve the issues I experienced with my previous bulky sling. My initial impression was one of cautious optimism; it looked right, but would it perform?
