The Magpul MAG110-YEL Enhanced Self-Leveling Follower USGI 5.56NATO 3-Pack Yellow – 223 Remington/5.56 NATO Caliber, Aftermarket Origin Made a Bold First Impression
Reliability is the bedrock of any AR-15, and a weak link in the system is often the magazine follower. The Magpul MAG110-YEL Enhanced Self-Leveling Follower USGI 5.56NATO 3-Pack Yellow – 223 Remington/5.56 NATO Caliber, Aftermarket Origin promises to be a simple, yet significant upgrade to standard USGI magazines, addressing the common problem of follower tilt and associated feeding issues. I’ve been running ARs for over a decade, from competitions to dusty training ranges, and have seen firsthand how a poorly performing magazine can turn a good day sour.
My frustration with occasional failures to feed in my older USGI mags prompted me to look for a reliable upgrade. I was looking for something that would enhance the feeding reliability of my existing magazines without the expense of purchasing entirely new ones.
The Magpul followers arrived in a simple, no-frills package. The bright yellow color immediately stood out, a departure from the standard black or green. Picking one up, I was immediately impressed by the smooth, almost slick texture of the polymer. This felt like a notable improvement over the standard followers, which can sometimes feel a bit rough. I was also pleased that the package contained three followers, allowing me to upgrade multiple magazines at once.
I considered other aftermarket followers from brands like Brownells and Strike Industries. I ultimately chose the Magpul follower due to its reputation for reliability and the well-documented anti-tilt design. My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The build quality seemed excellent, and the design appeared well-thought-out, but the real test would be in the field.
