First Impressions of Lunkerhunt Tandem Trailer Soft Bait
The Lunkerhunt Tandem Trailer Soft Bait promises to be a game-changer in trailer baits, offering a unique floating design and durable construction to enhance any jig or swim jig presentation. As an avid angler with over a decade of experience, I’m always on the lookout for innovative tackle that can give me an edge on the water.
My quest for the perfect trailer bait led me to the Lunkerhunt offering; I was specifically seeking a bait that would add extra buoyancy and action to my jigs in slow-moving water. The promise of ultra-durable, floating soft plastic immediately caught my attention, and the dual rigging option hinted at versatility I hadn’t encountered before.
Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the texture of the plastic – it felt noticeably tougher than standard soft plastics, a testament to Lunkerhunt’s claims of “Ultra Durable Soft Plastic material”. The Lunkerhunt Tandem Trailer Soft Bait appeared well-made, with a clean finish and uniform shape across all six trailers.
Compared to other trailer baits I’ve used, like the Zoom Super Chunk or the Berkley PowerBait MaxScent Chunk, the Lunkerhunt stands out with its unique shape and dual rigging options. I chose the Lunkerhunt specifically for its floating properties, something neither of those other brands readily offers.
My initial impression was one of cautious optimism; the bait looked promising, but the true test would be its performance in the water. I was excited to see if it lived up to the hype of adding extra action to my presentations.
Real-World Testing: Putting Lunkerhunt Tandem Trailer Soft Bait to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Lunkerhunt Tandem Trailer Soft Bait on a local reservoir known for its murky water and abundance of largemouth bass. I rigged it on a 3/8oz jig and fished it around submerged timber and weed lines.
The bait performed exceptionally well in the murky conditions; its buoyant nature kept the jig slightly elevated, preventing it from snagging as easily. I immediately noticed the enhanced action the trailer imparted, even with minimal jig movement.
The Lunkerhunt Tandem Trailer Soft Bait was surprisingly easy to use, requiring no real learning curve; rigging it was straightforward and the dual rigging option allowed for quick adaptation to different presentations. After only a few casts, I hooked into a solid 3-pound bass – a promising start.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use, the Lunkerhunt Tandem Trailer Soft Bait has proven to be remarkably durable. Despite repeated casts and encounters with submerged structure, the trailers showed minimal signs of wear and tear.
The “Ultra Durable Soft Plastic material” truly lives up to its name; I’ve caught numerous fish on the same trailer without needing to replace it. Maintenance is simple – a quick rinse with water after each use is all that’s needed.
Compared to my experiences with other soft plastic trailers that often tear or lose their shape after only a few fish, the Lunkerhunt Tandem Trailer Soft Bait far outperforms them in terms of durability and longevity. This definitely exceeded my expectations.
