First Impressions of Lunkerhunt Froglet Bait Topwater
The Lunkerhunt Froglet Bait Topwater is a compact, hollow-bodied frog lure designed to entice bass and other predatory fish with its realistic profile and enticing action. This lure promises easy casting and walking action, making it a potential game-changer for anglers of all skill levels looking for a reliable topwater option.
I was on the hunt for a smaller, more subtle frog lure after struggling to get bites with larger, more aggressive options in heavily pressured waters. The promise of easy walking action and a weedless design intrigued me, especially considering the Lunkerhunt brand’s reputation for producing affordable, yet effective lures.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed by the realistic frog profile and the soft, pliable nature of the hollow body. The upturned hooks felt sticky sharp, and the overall build quality seemed solid for a lure in this price range. It felt lighter than some of my other hollow-body frogs, which I hoped would translate to better casting distance and a more subtle presentation. Compared to larger, more expensive frogs from brands like Spro or Livetarget, the Froglet felt like a more finesse option. I chose the Lunkerhunt Froglet due to its size, price point, and the positive buzz surrounding its walking action. I was excited to see if it could live up to the hype and become a staple in my topwater arsenal.
Real-World Testing: Putting Lunkerhunt Froglet Bait Topwater to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Lunkerhunt Froglet Bait Topwater on a local lake known for its dense lily pads and healthy bass population. The conditions were partly cloudy with a slight breeze, ideal for topwater fishing.
The Froglet casted surprisingly far for its size and was remarkably easy to walk right out of the package. I had no trouble achieving a side-to-side gliding action with minimal effort. The lure performed beautifully around the lily pads, gliding effortlessly across the surface and triggering several explosive strikes. No issues occurred during my first time using it.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the Lunkerhunt Froglet Bait Topwater has proven to be a reliable and productive lure. It has become a go-to option when the bite is tough, and the bass are looking for a smaller, more subtle presentation.
The soft plastic body has held up remarkably well, showing only minor signs of wear and tear from hooksets and toothy predators. Cleaning is simple – just rinse it off with water and let it air dry. Compared to some of the more expensive topwater lures I’ve used, the Froglet has exceeded my expectations in terms of durability and performance.
