Lockdown Long Gun Hanger Review

First Impressions of Lockdown Long Gun Hanger

The Lockdown Long Gun Hanger promises a simple, secure, and visually appealing way to display firearms on Lockdown’s SecureWalls and SecureWalls HD systems. As someone with over a decade in the tactical and outdoor gear space, I’ve seen countless methods for gun storage, from traditional safes to DIY wall mounts. The Lockdown system piqued my interest because it offered a modular and customizable solution.

I was looking for a way to organize my gun room and showcase some of my favorite long guns without sacrificing security or space. Previously, I relied on a combination of gun cabinets and vertical racks, neither of which were ideal. The cabinets took up too much floor space, and the racks didn’t offer a particularly elegant presentation. I was hoping that the Lockdown Long Gun Hanger would provide a more streamlined and visually appealing way to store and display my firearms.

Upon unboxing, the hangers felt solid and well-made. The powder-coated metal gave them a robust feel, and the vinyl coating seemed like a thoughtful touch to protect the firearms from scratches. Compared to simple metal hooks or DIY solutions, the Lockdown Long Gun Hanger immediately impressed me with its professional finish and thoughtful design. I considered other options, like individual gun locks with wall mounts, but they lacked the clean aesthetic and modularity of the Lockdown system.

My initial impression was positive. I was excited to see how the Lockdown Long Gun Hanger would integrate into my existing Lockdown SecureWall system and how well it would perform in holding various long guns. The potential for a secure and aesthetically pleasing display was definitely there.

Real-World Testing: Putting Lockdown Long Gun Hanger to the Test

First Use Experience

I primarily tested the Lockdown Long Gun Hanger in my home gun room. The room is climate-controlled, so environmental factors weren’t a significant concern, but I made a point of testing the hangers with a variety of long guns. This ranged from lightweight AR-15s to heavier hunting rifles.

Installation was straightforward; the hangers easily clicked into the Lockdown SecureWall panels without any tools. I appreciated the independent hook design, which allowed me to adjust the spacing to accommodate different firearm lengths. The first time I hung my AR-15, it felt secure and stable.

There weren’t any immediate issues or surprises during the initial setup. The hangers performed as expected, providing a stable and secure platform for my long guns. The vinyl coating prevented any noticeable scratching or marring of the firearm finishes.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of use, the Lockdown Long Gun Hanger continues to perform admirably. I’ve swapped out various firearms on the hangers multiple times. Each time, the hangers have maintained their grip on the SecureWall and have shown no signs of loosening or wear.

The powder-coated finish has proven to be durable. There aren’t any scratches or signs of rust despite regular handling. The vinyl coating also shows no signs of wear, continuing to protect the firearms from any potential damage. Maintenance is minimal. I occasionally wipe them down with a damp cloth to remove any dust, but that’s about it.

Compared to my previous storage solutions, the Lockdown Long Gun Hanger has been a significant improvement. It offers a far more organized and aesthetically pleasing way to store and display my long guns, and the modularity of the Lockdown system is a major plus. The peace of mind knowing my firearms are securely stored and protected from damage is invaluable.

Breaking Down the Features of Lockdown Long Gun Hanger

Specifications

The Lockdown Long Gun Hanger is designed specifically for use with Lockdown SecureWalls and SecureWalls HD. It consists of two independent hooks, each made of heavy-duty powder-coated steel. The hooks are vinyl-coated to prevent marring of firearm finishes.

• The powder-coated steel construction ensures strength and durability, capable of supporting the weight of most long guns.
• The vinyl coating is crucial for protecting the firearm’s finish, preventing scratches and other cosmetic damage.
• The independent hook design allows for customization, accommodating long guns of various lengths and configurations.

These specifications are critical because they directly impact the hanger’s ability to securely hold and protect firearms. Without the strong steel construction, the hangers wouldn’t be able to support heavier rifles. Without the vinyl coating, there would be a significant risk of scratching or damaging the firearm’s finish. The independent hook design provides the flexibility needed to accommodate a wide range of long guns, making the system adaptable to different collections.

Performance & Functionality

The Lockdown Long Gun Hanger excels at its primary job: securely holding and displaying long guns. The hangers provide a stable and reliable platform, and the SecureWall system ensures that the firearms are safely stored and out of reach of unauthorized individuals.

• The hangers are strong and stable, providing peace of mind that the firearms are secure.
• The independent hooks allow for easy adjustment, accommodating different firearm lengths and configurations.

The only potential improvement would be a slightly deeper hook design to provide an even more secure hold on firearms with thinner stocks. Overall, the Lockdown Long Gun Hanger meets and exceeds expectations, providing a simple, effective, and aesthetically pleasing storage solution.

Design & Ergonomics

The Lockdown Long Gun Hanger features a simple and functional design. The powder-coated black finish gives it a clean and professional look. The materials are high-quality, and the hangers feel solid and well-built.

The design is very user-friendly. The hangers easily snap into the SecureWall panels, and there’s no learning curve involved. The independent hooks make it easy to adjust the spacing to accommodate different firearms.

Durability & Maintenance

The Lockdown Long Gun Hanger is built to last. The powder-coated steel construction is resistant to rust and scratches, and the vinyl coating is durable and long-lasting. With minimal maintenance, these hangers should provide years of reliable service.

Maintenance is incredibly simple. Wiping them down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove any dust or dirt. There are no moving parts to wear out or require lubrication.

Accessories and Customization Options

The Lockdown Long Gun Hanger doesn’t come with any specific accessories. However, it’s designed to integrate seamlessly with the Lockdown SecureWall system, which offers a wide range of accessories and customization options.

• Various SecureWall panels and mounting hardware allow for customization of the storage layout.
• Lockdown offers other accessories like pistol racks, shelving, and magazine holders, which can be used in conjunction with the long gun hangers to create a fully customized gun room.

The compatibility with other Lockdown products is a major advantage, allowing users to create a fully integrated and customized storage solution. The hangers are specifically designed for the SecureWall system, so compatibility with accessories from other brands is limited.
