Let’s Talk About Loc Outdoorz Mikron Sling
The Loc Outdoorz Mikron Sling enters the archery world promising a blend of speed and adjustability. Marketed by Loc Outdoorz as a wrist sling designed for archers seeking a faster, more secure grip on their bows, its core feature is its rapid hand-to-glove adjustment. This adjustability is achieved through their proprietary Sling-LOC knobs. This sling is designed to accommodate nearly all bows and stabilizers thanks to its machined aluminum mounting bracket.
For years, I’ve struggled with slings that either slip during the draw or require constant readjustment, particularly when switching between bare hands and gloves during varying weather conditions in the stand. I’ve tested numerous options, but I need a reliable, easy-to-adjust sling for bowhunting. That’s what led me to the Loc Outdoorz Mikron Sling.
Upon unboxing, the two-tone braid immediately caught my eye, suggesting quality construction. The Sling-LOC knobs feel solid and promise easy adjustment. The aluminum mounting bracket is lightweight yet sturdy, reinforcing the impression of a well-made product.
Compared to basic paracord slings I’ve used, which offer minimal adjustability, the Mikron Sling seemed a step up. Versus more complex, buckle-heavy slings from brands like Cobra, the Mikron Sling appeared simpler and potentially faster to adjust. I chose this sling for its potential to offer a balance between adjustability, speed, and streamlined design.
My initial impression was cautiously optimistic. It looks well-made and promises convenient adjustability. I was eager to test if the Loc Outdoorz Mikron Sling could truly deliver on its claims in the field.
Real-World Testing: Putting Loc Outdoorz Mikron Sling to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Loc Outdoorz Mikron Sling at my local archery range, practicing various shooting stances. I concentrated on quick draws and consistent anchor points. This was followed by a session simulating hunting conditions in my backyard, including wearing bulky gloves.
The weather was initially dry, but a light drizzle started midway through the range session. The sling maintained its grip effectively, even when my hands were slightly damp. Adjusting the sling with gloves on proved simple, thanks to the Sling-LOC knobs. No surprises arose from the first-time use.
Extended Use & Reliability
After three months of regular use, the Loc Outdoorz Mikron Sling has held up surprisingly well. There are no signs of fraying on the braid, and the aluminum mounting bracket remains secure and corrosion-free. The Sling-LOC knobs still operate smoothly, demonstrating the durability of the design.
The sling required minimal maintenance; a simple wipe-down after muddy sessions was sufficient. This is a welcome change from previous slings that needed frequent cleaning and tightening. It has outperformed my previous paracord sling. The adjustability has been a real asset when wearing layers for late-season hunts.
