First Impressions of KleenBore Stainless Steel Double Ended Gun Pick Tool Set
As an outdoor and tactical gear specialist with over a decade of experience, I’ve seen my fair share of cleaning tools. Maintaining firearms is paramount for safety and longevity. A proper cleaning kit is just as crucial as the firearm itself, and the KleenBore Stainless Steel Double Ended Gun Pick Tool Set promises to be a valuable addition to any gun owner’s arsenal.
Over years of field stripping and cleaning everything from antique lever-actions to modern AR platforms, I constantly encountered tight spots and stubborn fouling. Carbon buildup around the bolt face, lead deposits in the forcing cone, and general crud accumulating in trigger assemblies often proved challenging. I needed a set of precision tools that wouldn’t damage the firearm’s finish but could effectively dislodge debris from hard-to-reach areas.
Upon receiving the KleenBore Stainless Steel Double Ended Gun Pick Tool Set, I immediately noted its compact packaging. The stainless steel construction felt solid and durable, a welcome change from the flimsy plastic picks I’ve encountered in some kits. The variety of shapes on each end of the five picks suggested a comprehensive solution to my cleaning needs.
Compared to generic dental picks or makeshift tools, the KleenBore set felt specifically designed for firearm maintenance. While a basic set of plastic picks might cost slightly less, the KleenBore’s superior material and double-ended functionality offered a clear advantage. I was initially excited about the potential precision and durability of these tools, hoping they would make cleaning intricate gun parts more efficient and less frustrating.
Real-World Testing: Putting KleenBore Stainless Steel Double Ended Gun Pick Tool Set to the Test
First Use Experience
I first put the KleenBore Stainless Steel Double Ended Gun Pick Tool Set to work cleaning my well-used AR-15 after a day at the range. The conditions were fairly typical – sunny but with a slight breeze kicking up some dust. The carbon fouling around the bolt carrier group was particularly stubborn, as usual.
The KleenBore picks proved incredibly useful for cleaning the intricate parts of the bolt carrier. The various angles and shapes allowed me to effectively scrape away carbon buildup without scratching the finish. I found the angled picks particularly helpful for reaching into tight corners, while the hook-shaped picks were perfect for dislodging debris from crevices.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use on various firearms, including shotguns and pistols, the KleenBore Stainless Steel Double Ended Gun Pick Tool Set has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of bending, breaking, or excessive wear on any of the picks. The stainless steel construction has proven resistant to corrosion, even after exposure to various solvents and cleaning solutions.
The KleenBore set is easy to clean. A quick wipe down with a cloth and some solvent is generally sufficient to remove any residue. Compared to my previous experience with plastic picks, which often became brittle and broke after repeated use, the KleenBore set has significantly outperformed my expectations in terms of durability and longevity.
