Let’s Talk About Kinro Composites Three-Piece Tub Surround – 40in x 54in.
The Kinro Composites Three-Piece Tub Surround – 40in x 54in. promises a quick and cost-effective bathroom upgrade, replacing that tired, chipped, or just plain outdated tub surround. Manufactured by Kinro Composites, this unit boasts a high-quality ABS plastic construction, aiming for durability and ease of installation. It’s designed to fit standard 40-inch by 54-inch tubs, providing a clean, white finish that can instantly brighten up any bathroom space.
My old tub surround was a disaster; years of scrubbing had failed to remove the embedded mildew, and the cheap plastic was cracking. I needed something easy to install and even easier to clean, without breaking the bank on a full-scale bathroom remodel. I seriously considered tile, but the cost and time investment were prohibitive.
Unboxing the Kinro Composites Three-Piece Tub Surround – 40in x 54in., my initial thought was that the ABS plastic felt reasonably sturdy. It was lightweight enough to handle easily, but didn’t feel flimsy. The white finish was consistent and, thankfully, a true white – a detail that can be surprisingly inconsistent with some manufacturers.
I considered a fiberglass surround from a local hardware store and a similar ABS model from another online retailer. I opted for the Kinro Composites model because of the stated quality of the ABS plastic and the positive reviews I saw regarding ease of installation. The other ABS model seemed to have issues with warping, something I definitely wanted to avoid.
My first impression was cautiously optimistic. The Kinro Composites Three-Piece Tub Surround – 40in x 54in. looked like it could potentially solve my problem, but the true test would be the installation and long-term durability.
Real-World Testing: Putting Kinro Composites Three-Piece Tub Surround – 40in x 54in. to the Test
First Use Experience
The real test, of course, began during installation in my decidedly not square bathroom. I installed the Kinro Composites Three-Piece Tub Surround – 40in x 54in. with construction adhesive and some strategically placed shims to compensate for the slightly uneven walls. The whole process, including cleanup, took about three hours.
The bathroom saw its fair share of use immediately after installation, complete with steamy showers. The Kinro Composites Three-Piece Tub Surround – 40in x 54in. performed as expected, with water beading nicely on the surface. The seams, sealed with silicone caulk, remained watertight.
The biggest surprise was how much brighter the bathroom felt with the new white surround. It was a significant improvement over the previous, dingy setup.
Extended Use & Reliability
After six months of daily use, the Kinro Composites Three-Piece Tub Surround – 40in x 54in. has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of cracking or warping, and the white finish remains bright.
Cleaning is a breeze; a simple wipe-down with a mild bathroom cleaner keeps it looking fresh. I’ve been careful to avoid abrasive cleaners, as recommended by the manufacturer. So far, there’s no sign of mildew or staining.
Compared to my previous experience with a cheaper surround, the Kinro Composites Three-Piece Tub Surround – 40in x 54in. is a clear winner. The improved durability and ease of cleaning have made a noticeable difference in the overall maintenance of the bathroom.
