Let’s Talk About Huntworth Youths Hunting Pop Top Glove – Kids
The Huntworth Youths Hunting Pop Top Glove – Kids are designed to bridge the gap between warmth and dexterity for young hunters braving the cold. These gloves, manufactured by Huntworth, cleverly combine the insulation of a mitten with the finger access of a glove, making them an intriguing option for parents looking to keep their children comfortable and effective in the field. The pop-top design and waterproof insert promise to be game-changers for youthful outdoor adventures.
My own need for such a product stems from years of watching my nephew struggle with bulky gloves during our annual deer season. He’d either be too cold, or fumble with taking his gloves off to handle his rifle, often missing opportunities. Unboxing these gloves, I was immediately impressed by the soft tricot shell and the clever magnetic closure system for the pop-top.
I considered a few other options, including standard mittens and fingerless gloves, but the Huntworth design seemed to offer the best of both worlds. Mittens are undeniably warmer, but hinder dexterity; fingerless gloves expose too much skin. These Huntworth gloves appeared to strike a perfect balance, promising warmth with the option for quick finger access.
My initial reaction was one of cautious optimism. The quality of the materials seemed good, and the design was undeniably innovative. However, the true test would be in the field, and I was eager to see if these gloves could live up to the promise of keeping little hands warm and nimble.
Real-World Testing: Putting Huntworth Youths Hunting Pop Top Glove – Kids to the Test
First Use Experience
My nephew, Liam, and I tested the Huntworth Youths Hunting Pop Top Glove – Kids during a late-season pheasant hunt on a crisp December morning. The temperature hovered around 25 degrees Fahrenheit with a slight breeze, providing a true test of the glove’s insulation. Liam wore them throughout the morning as we navigated through fields and waited patiently for birds.
The gloves performed admirably in the cold, with the 40g Thinsulate insulation keeping his hands surprisingly warm. The real value came when he needed to quickly shoulder his shotgun; the pop-top design allowed him to expose his trigger finger without removing the entire glove. He was able to react quickly and naturally, resulting in a successful hunt.
Liam did initially need a few minutes to get used to the magnetic closure, but he quickly mastered it. There were no major issues, although I noticed the fleece cuff did accumulate some burrs from the tall grass, a minor inconvenience.
Extended Use & Reliability
Over the next few months, Liam used the Huntworth Youths Hunting Pop Top Glove – Kids on several more hunting trips and even during some winter hikes. They have held up exceptionally well, with no noticeable signs of wear and tear. The Grip-tex palm patch shows no abrasion.
The soft tricot shell has proven surprisingly durable, resisting snags and tears despite regular use in brushy terrain. The gloves have been easy to clean, with mud and dirt wiping off easily. The Microban antimicrobial treatment appears to be effective, as there is no lingering odor, even after extended use.
Compared to other youth hunting gloves we’ve used in the past, the Huntworth gloves are a clear winner. They offer superior warmth, better dexterity, and greater durability. They have become an essential part of Liam’s hunting gear.
