Let’s Talk About Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree
The Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree is an assortment of glow sticks designed for various emergency and recreational uses. Manufactured by Campco, this pack offers a range of colors and boasts a long illumination time, making it a seemingly practical addition to any preparedness kit. Are these light sticks a reliable and versatile tool, or just another piece of disposable gear?
I recently found myself planning a multi-day backpacking trip in the Adirondacks, and the potential for getting caught out after dark was a real concern. I needed a lightweight, reliable light source that wouldn’t drain batteries or require maintenance. I had used chemical light sticks in the past, primarily the military-grade green ones, but wanted something more versatile for signaling and general camp lighting.
Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the assortment of colors; four white, two blue, two red, two green, and two orange. They felt sturdy enough, individually wrapped and compact. The initial impression was positive, although the plastic packaging felt a bit flimsy.
I considered purchasing individual, higher-intensity LED lights or even a small lantern. Ultimately, I chose the Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree because of their low cost, zero maintenance, and variety of colors for signaling and different situations. I was hoping for a practical, no-frills solution for emergency lighting.
My first impression was cautious optimism; the price point was appealing, but I was concerned about their actual brightness and longevity. Would they live up to the claimed 8-12 hours of illumination, or would they fizzle out quickly? Only real-world testing would tell.
Real-World Testing: Putting Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test of the Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree was on that backpacking trip in the Adirondacks. I used a white light stick inside my tent as a makeshift lantern, and a red one clipped to my pack while hiking at dusk. The white one provided a surprisingly decent ambient glow inside the tent, enough to comfortably read a map and organize my gear.
The red light stick attached to my pack was effective for increasing visibility during twilight hours. Although not as bright as a dedicated headlamp, it made me noticeably more visible to my hiking partners. I also tested one of the blue light sticks during a misty evening; the blue light cut through the fog surprisingly well, making it suitable for short-range signaling.
Using the light sticks was incredibly simple; a quick bend and snap was all it took to activate them. Initially, I was impressed with the ease of use and the noticeable glow they provided. I had no immediate issues with activation or premature dimming.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of testing the Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree in different scenarios, I have a better sense of their reliability. The claim of 8-12 hours of illumination is somewhat optimistic; most of the light sticks provided a strong glow for about 6-8 hours, then gradually dimmed to a barely noticeable level over the next few hours. The color light sticks (red, blue, green, orange) generally faded faster than the white ones.
In terms of durability, the light sticks held up surprisingly well to being jostled around in my pack. None of them broke or leaked, even after being subjected to moderate abuse. I did notice some minor scratches on the plastic casing.
Maintenance is nonexistent, which is a definite plus. There’s nothing to clean or recharge; once they’re used, they’re disposable. Compared to my experiences with battery-powered lights, the Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree offer a no-fuss, albeit temporary, lighting solution.
Breaking Down the Features of Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree
Specifications
The Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree, manufactured by Campco, includes a variety of colored light sticks: four white, two blue, two red, two green, and two orange. Each light stick provides 360-degree illumination for a claimed duration of 8-12 hours. The manufacturer states they are non-toxic, non-flammable, and weatherproof.
*The *8-12 hour duration* is a key specification. While the light sticks do illuminate for that long, the practical, useful light output diminishes significantly after the first 6-8 hours. The non-toxic and non-flammable claims are important for safety, especially in enclosed spaces or around flammable materials. Finally, the weatherproof design gives a peace of mind against short term and light exposure to water.
Performance & Functionality
The Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree perform adequately for basic emergency lighting and signaling. The brightness is sufficient for illuminating a small area, such as a tent or a confined space. The variety of colors allows for different signaling applications.
Their main strength is their simplicity and reliability; they always work (provided they haven’t expired), and there’s no need to worry about batteries or switches. A weakness is their limited brightness and lifespan; they are not a substitute for a proper flashlight or lantern. They meet basic expectations for emergency lighting, but don’t exceed them.
Design & Ergonomics
The Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree feature a simple, cylindrical design made of durable plastic. The light sticks are lightweight and easy to carry, making them ideal for backpacking or inclusion in a survival kit. They are designed for one-time use, with no moving parts or complex mechanisms.
The design is definitely user-friendly; even a child could activate them. There’s virtually no learning curve involved.
Durability & Maintenance
The plastic casing of the Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree appears reasonably durable. They can withstand moderate impacts and rough handling without breaking.
Maintenance is not required; once used, they are discarded. Their lifespan is dependent on the expiration date printed on the packaging.
Accessories and Customization Options
The Humvee Accessories HMV6FP10 12 Piece Light Stick Family Pack White/Blue/Red/Gree come with no additional accessories. There are no customization options available.
They are compatible with any standard clip or lanyard that can accommodate their cylindrical shape. The lack of customization is a limitation, but their intended use is basic emergency lighting, so extensive customization isn’t really necessary.
