My journey to this grip began when a friend, a fellow enthusiast with a well-loved Colt Trooper Mk III, complained about the original grips feeling slick and uncomfortable after extended use. I knew Hogue had a solid reputation for quality grips, so I suggested this particular model based on its promising combination of rose laminate, finger grooves, and checkering. The initial experience was positive; the rose laminate exuded a classic appeal, while the finger grooves and checkering hinted at improved ergonomics.
Upon unboxing, the first thing that struck me was the rich color and smooth finish of the rose laminate. The weight felt balanced and substantial, suggesting durable construction. Compared to standard synthetic grips, or even some basic wood grips I’ve handled, the Hogue immediately felt more premium.

I chose this particular grip because of the rose laminate that provides classic beauty, the finger grooves promise comfort, and the checkering improves grip. Initially, I was cautiously optimistic.
