HOG 17006 HANDALL FULL SIZE PURPLE Review

Let’s Dive into HOG 17006 HANDALL FULL SIZE PURPLE

The HOG 17006 HANDALL FULL SIZE PURPLE grip isn’t just another firearm accessory; it’s a statement. From Hogue, a trusted name in firearm grips, this vibrant purple grip promises enhanced control and comfort for your full-size handgun. It’s more than just aesthetics; it’s about improving your shooting experience.

My search for this grip stemmed from a need to tame the aggressive texture of my Glock 17’s factory grip. After a long day at the range, my hands felt raw, and I longed for a more comfortable, yet equally secure, hold. The promise of Hogue’s renowned rubber molding and finger grooves drew me to the HOG 17006 HANDALL FULL SIZE PURPLE.

Unboxing the grip, I was immediately struck by the quality of the rubber. It felt soft and pliable, yet reassuringly durable. The vibrant purple color was even more striking in person, a welcome departure from the sea of black and FDE accessories. The proportioned finger grooves and cobblestone texture looked promising for enhancing my grip.

I considered a few other options, including Talon Grips and Pachmayr rubber grips, but ultimately chose the HOG 17006 HANDALL FULL SIZE PURPLE for its combination of color, Hogue’s reputation, and its “sleeve” design. Other options felt too permanent or lacked the full coverage I desired. This HandALL promised an easy, non-permanent upgrade.

My initial impression was excitement mixed with slight skepticism. Would this relatively inexpensive grip truly make a difference? The fit and feel were promising, but only time at the range would tell.

Performance & Functionality

The HOG 17006 HANDALL FULL SIZE PURPLE excels at its primary job: improving grip and control. The rubber material absorbs recoil effectively, reducing hand fatigue during extended shooting sessions. The finger grooves promote consistent hand placement, contributing to improved accuracy.

The grip’s snug fit prevents slippage, even in wet or sweaty conditions. One potential weakness is that the HandALL design might not fit every full-size handgun perfectly. While it’s designed to be universal, some minor trimming might be necessary for optimal fit on certain models.

Design & Ergonomics

The HOG 17006 HANDALL FULL SIZE PURPLE is well-designed with ergonomics in mind. The rubber material is soft to the touch, yet provides a secure hold. The proportioned finger grooves comfortably accommodate a wide range of hand sizes.

The cobblestone texture provides excellent traction without being overly aggressive or abrasive. There’s a very slight learning curve, primarily in getting used to the finger grooves and how they guide your hand.

Durability & Maintenance

The HOG 17006 HANDALL FULL SIZE PURPLE is built to last, constructed from a durable rubber compound. With proper care, it should withstand years of use without significant wear and tear. Maintenance is straightforward: simply wipe it down with a damp cloth as needed.

The rubber material is resistant to most common solvents and gun cleaning products. While it’s unlikely to require repair, the slip-on design allows for easy replacement if necessary.

Accessories and Customization Options

The HOG 17006 HANDALL FULL SIZE PURPLE doesn’t come with any specific accessories, as it’s a standalone grip enhancement. However, it’s compatible with most standard handgun accessories, such as lights and lasers that attach to the firearm’s frame or rail. Because it’s a grip sleeve, you don’t need special screws or anything to attach it.

The primary customization option is the color, with purple offering a unique and personalized look. It may require minor trimming to fit specific handguns perfectly.
