Let’s Talk About HiViz Interchangeable Front and Rear Target Sight Set for Ruger MK II/III
The HiViz Interchangeable Front and Rear Target Sight Set for Ruger MK II/III promises to enhance target acquisition and improve accuracy for one of the most popular .22 pistols ever made. HiViz, known for their bright and durable fiber optic sights, aims to provide a significant upgrade over the factory sights on Ruger MK II and MK III target models. With its interchangeable LitePipes in green, red, and white, this sight set caters to various lighting conditions and shooter preferences.
I’ve always appreciated the Ruger MK series for its accuracy and reliability, but the factory sights, while functional, leave something to be desired, especially in low-light situations. I wanted a sight system that would allow me to quickly and easily acquire targets, providing better contrast and improved visibility. I was hoping to increase my accuracy with quicker target acquisition at the range.
Upon unboxing the HiViz Interchangeable Front and Rear Target Sight Set for Ruger MK II/III, I was immediately impressed by the apparent quality of the components. The metal sight housings felt robust, and the LitePipes snapped in securely. The included carrying case was a welcome addition, ensuring the extra LitePipes are safely stored and easily accessible.
I considered other aftermarket sights, including some tritium options and various fiber optic sets from different manufacturers. However, the HiViz set’s interchangeable LitePipes and reputation for brightness swayed me. The price point also factored in; at $38.99, it seemed like a very reasonable investment for a potentially significant performance upgrade.
My first impression was one of excitement. The HiViz Interchangeable Front and Rear Target Sight Set for Ruger MK II/III looked like exactly what I needed to breathe new life into my trusted Ruger MK II. I was eager to install them and see how they performed at the range.
Real-World Testing: Putting HiViz Interchangeable Front and Rear Target Sight Set for Ruger MK II/III to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the HiViz Interchangeable Front and Rear Target Sight Set for Ruger MK II/III at my local outdoor shooting range. I used a variety of targets, from paper bullseyes to steel plates, at distances ranging from 15 to 50 feet. The weather was partly cloudy, providing a mix of direct sunlight and shaded areas.
The HiViz sights performed exceptionally well in all lighting conditions. The green LitePipe was particularly effective in bright sunlight, while the red and white options offered better contrast in shaded areas. Target acquisition was noticeably faster compared to the factory sights.
Installation took about 20 minutes and required a small punch and hammer, as well as a sight pusher tool. The rear sight drifted in easily and the front sight fit into the existing dovetail with minor fitting. No significant issues arose during the setup.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the HiViz Interchangeable Front and Rear Target Sight Set for Ruger MK II/III has proven to be extremely durable. I have put at least 5000 rounds through my Ruger MK II with these sights installed, and they show no signs of wear or loosening. The LitePipes remain bright and securely in place.
The sight housings are made from steel, so they’re holding up great to the minor bumps and knocks that happen during regular range use. The LitePipes themselves are also surprisingly robust. I have not needed to replace them yet.
Cleaning is straightforward. I simply wipe down the sights with a clean cloth after each shooting session. The metal housings resist corrosion, and the LitePipes are unaffected by common gun cleaning solvents. The HiViz sights have far surpassed my expectations compared to other aftermarket upgrades I’ve tried in the past.
