The Hight Speed Gear HSG-40SCR1BK AO Small Chest Rig BLK Made a Bold First Impression
The Hight Speed Gear HSG-40SCR1BK AO Small Chest Rig BLK arrived in a surprisingly compact package, hinting at its streamlined design. This chest rig promises a blend of functionality and affordability, a combination that always piques my interest after years in the field. My first impression was one of practical minimalism.
I was looking for a lightweight and versatile chest rig that could adapt to different mission profiles. Many of the larger rigs I own are great for sustained operations, but overkill for quick range trips or scouting. The HSGI rig seemed like it could fill that niche.
Out of the box, the rig felt robust despite its small size. The stitching appeared clean and durable, and the materials felt like they could withstand some abuse. Compared to a larger, more complex chest rig from Blackhawk! and a minimalist placard from Ferro Concepts, the HSGI rig offered a balance between modularity and simplicity that was appealing. I chose it because I needed something that could carry essential gear without being bulky or cumbersome.
My initial impression was cautiously optimistic. The size and weight were definitely a plus, but I was eager to see how it would perform under real-world conditions.
Real-World Testing: Putting Hight Speed Gear HSG-40SCR1BK AO Small Chest Rig BLK to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Hight Speed Gear HSG-40SCR1BK AO Small Chest Rig BLK at an outdoor shooting range. The weather was dry and mild, perfect for evaluating the rig’s comfort and functionality. I ran several drills involving magazine changes and transitioning between firing positions.
The rig performed admirably, keeping my magazines and other essentials readily accessible. The side openings proved useful for stashing a range card and a small notepad. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Small H-Harness distributed the weight, even with three fully loaded rifle magazines.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use, the HSGI chest rig has proven to be a reliable piece of kit. I’ve used it on multiple range days, as well as on a weekend-long camping trip where it served as a lightweight carrier for essential survival gear. There are no signs of excessive wear and tear so far.
The rig has held up well, even after being exposed to dirt, dust, and light rain. Cleaning it is a breeze; a simple wipe-down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient. Compared to a previous, less expensive chest rig I owned, the HSGI rig is significantly more durable and comfortable, definitely outperforming expectations.
