HHA Optimizer Ultra X Sight 1004185 Review

First Impressions of HHA Optimizer Ultra X Sight 1004185

The HHA Optimizer Ultra X Sight 1004185 promises a new level of precision for archers, and as someone who’s spent countless hours dialing in sights, I was eager to see if it delivered. From the renowned manufacturer HHA, this sight boasts an Infinite Adjust Slotted Slide Bracket designed for easy 2nd axis and vertical adjustments. My initial excitement stemmed from the potential time saved during setup and the promise of maximizing my sight tape range.

My frustrations with traditional multi-pin sights, where adjustments often felt like compromises, led me to explore a single-pin adjustable option. The HHA Optimizer Ultra X Sight 1004185 seemed to offer a solution, promising micro-adjustments and greater accuracy at varying distances. I considered the Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL and the Axcel Landslyde, both excellent sights, but HHA‘s reputation for ruggedness and the innovative adjustability of the Ultra X ultimately swayed my decision.

Unboxing the HHA Optimizer Ultra X Sight 1004185 revealed a robust piece of equipment. The sight felt solid, and the black finish gave it a tactical, no-nonsense look. The build quality seemed exceptional, with tight tolerances and smooth adjustments evident even before mounting it on my bow.

While the Spot Hogg felt slightly more compact, the HHA exuded a sense of refined engineering. The Axcel, known for its target archery pedigree, seemed a bit too delicate for the rigors of my elk hunts. My first impression was one of anticipation and a strong belief that this sight could significantly improve my accuracy and confidence in the field.

Real-World Testing: Putting HHA Optimizer Ultra X Sight 1004185 to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial testing ground for the HHA Optimizer Ultra X Sight 1004185 was my local archery range. The weather was typically unpredictable for early spring – a mix of sunshine and intermittent light rain. Mounting the sight was straightforward, and the instructions were clear.

The Infinite Adjust Slotted Slide Bracket lived up to its promise, allowing for incredibly fine-tuned 2nd axis adjustments. Setting my 20-yard mark was significantly easier than with previous sights. There was a slight learning curve understanding the micro-adjustments for windage, but it quickly became intuitive.

No initial issues arose, but I was surprised that the .029 pin size seemed smaller than other .029 pins I’ve used. This could be due to the scope housing or the pin material itself.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of constant practice, including numerous trips to the range and a few simulated hunting scenarios, the HHA Optimizer Ultra X Sight 1004185 has proven its worth. The sight remains incredibly consistent. It holds its zero even after being subjected to the bumps and jostles of hiking in rough terrain.

I’ve noticed no significant wear and tear. The black finish has held up remarkably well, even after exposure to mud and rain. Maintaining the sight is incredibly simple. A quick wipe down with a dry cloth after each use is usually all that’s needed.

Compared to my previous experiences with multi-pin sights, the HHA has significantly improved my accuracy at longer ranges. The ability to dial in precise yardage has boosted my confidence, and I feel much better prepared for my upcoming hunting season. It surpasses the performance of my old sight in every way.
