First Impressions of Hawke Sport Optics Flip-up Covers Crossbow Scopes
The Hawke Sport Optics Flip-up Covers Crossbow Scopes might seem like a small accessory, but any experienced crossbow hunter knows the importance of protecting your valuable optic. Hawke Sport Optics, a name synonymous with quality and value, offers these flip-up covers as a practical solution to shield your crossbow scope lenses from the elements and potential damage. This review dives deep into the design, functionality, and durability of these covers, exploring whether they truly live up to Hawke Sport Optics‘ reputation.
I recently invested in a high-end crossbow scope and wanted to ensure its longevity. Scratched lenses can ruin a hunt, and I needed a reliable way to safeguard my investment from rain, mud, and accidental bumps in the field.
Upon unboxing, the covers felt solid and well-made, especially considering the price point. The plastic construction felt durable enough for regular use, and the flip-up mechanism seemed smooth. I was pleasantly surprised by the snug fit on my scope.
Compared to generic scope covers I’ve used in the past, these Hawke Sport Optics covers appeared to be a more tailored solution. They lacked the sloppy fit and questionable durability of cheaper alternatives. My initial impression was positive; these seemed like a worthwhile investment to protect my scope.
Real-World Testing: Putting Hawke Sport Optics Flip-up Covers Crossbow Scopes to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Hawke Sport Optics Flip-up Covers Crossbow Scopes during a week-long deer hunt in the Appalachian Mountains. The weather ranged from clear and crisp mornings to drizzly afternoons. The covers were primarily used in wooded terrain.
The covers performed admirably in both wet and dry conditions. When it started to rain, I simply flipped the covers closed, keeping my lenses dry and clear. They were easy to operate with gloves on, a crucial factor when hunting in cold weather.
Initially, I was concerned they might obstruct my view when open, but they flipped back far enough to stay out of my sightline. I experienced no issues during quick target acquisition.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, the Hawke Sport Optics Flip-up Covers Crossbow Scopes have held up surprisingly well. There are no signs of cracking or discoloration, even after being exposed to various weather conditions. The flip-up mechanism is still as smooth as the day I installed them.
The covers have proven to be exceptionally durable. They’ve endured several accidental bumps against branches and other gear without any visible damage. Cleaning is also simple; a quick wipe with a damp cloth removes any dirt or debris.
Compared to my previous experiences with flimsy scope covers, these Hawke Sport Optics offerings are a significant upgrade. Their reliability and ease of use have far exceeded my expectations. I can confidently say they’ve provided excellent protection for my crossbow scope.
