Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand Review

Let’s Talk About Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand

The Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand promises a blend of comfort, silence, and security for the discerning hunter. Hawk Treestands aims to deliver a treestand that minimizes noise and maximizes comfort, allowing hunters to stay in the field longer and with increased stealth. I was intrigued by its advertised noiseless operation and the promise of lumbar support, something many treestands sorely lack.

I’ve spent countless hours perched in various treestands, from basic ladders to elaborate enclosed platforms. My aging back has started to protest long sits, and the constant creaks and squeaks of cheaper stands have spooked more than one deer. I was searching for a solution that addressed both comfort and stealth. I was in the market for a hang-on stand that wouldn’t betray my presence.

The Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand arrived in a surprisingly compact box. My initial impression was that it seemed lighter than I anticipated. The welds looked clean and robust, and the powder coat finish appeared durable.

I considered the Millennium M100U and the Lone Wolf Alpha II hang-on stands. The Millennium’s comfort is legendary, but its bulk concerned me. The Lone Wolf is known for its packability, but I’ve heard complaints about its seat comfort. The Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand seemed to strike a balance between the two, with a focus on minimizing noise, which ultimately swayed my decision.

I was cautiously optimistic upon unboxing the Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand. I was hoping the claims of noiseless operation and lumbar support would hold true in the field. I was also eager to test the ease of setup and takedown, as I often hunt in areas where I need to move stands frequently.

Real-World Testing: Putting Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand during the early archery season in a heavily wooded area known for its whitetail deer. The weather was typical for that time of year: cool mornings with occasional light rain. I scouted a promising funnel between a bedding area and a feeding ground, and selected a sturdy oak tree about 20 feet up.

The over-molded hooks truly lived up to the hype. I experienced zero squeaks or clangs as I attached the stand to the tree. The MeshComfort seat proved to be surprisingly comfortable, providing excellent lumbar support that reduced fatigue during a four-hour sit.

I didn’t need much time to get accustomed to the Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand. The platform was stable, and the seat height was just right for comfortable shooting. My only initial concern was the size of the platform, which felt slightly smaller than some of my other stands.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of using the Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand, I’ve become quite impressed with its overall reliability. It has endured several rain showers and a light dusting of snow with no signs of rust or corrosion. The powder coat finish seems to be holding up well against scratches and scrapes.

The MeshComfort seat still provides excellent support and shows no signs of sagging or tearing. The stand itself remains remarkably quiet, even after multiple setups and takedowns. Cleaning the stand is simple. I just use a damp cloth to wipe away any mud or debris.

Compared to my older stands, the Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand is a significant improvement in both comfort and stealth. The lumbar support has made a noticeable difference in my back pain, and the quiet operation has given me a newfound confidence in my ability to remain undetected.

Breaking Down the Features of Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand

Specifications

The Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand boasts several noteworthy specifications. The stand weight is 22 lbs, making it reasonably portable for a hang-on stand. The weight rating is 300 lbs, providing ample capacity for most hunters and their gear.

The platform size is 24w x 30d inches. While adequate, it’s slightly smaller than some competitor models. The seat features a Lumbar MeshComfort design for enhanced comfort and support. It is compatible with the Cruzr Tree Bracket, sold separately, for quick and easy stand attachment and removal.

These specifications translate directly into improved user experience. The reasonable weight makes it manageable to carry into the woods. The lumbar support allows for longer, more comfortable sits. The Cruzr Tree Bracket compatibility adds convenience and safety to the setup process, although it is an additional expense.

Performance & Functionality

The Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand performs admirably in its primary function: providing a stable, comfortable, and silent platform for hunting. The noiseless design is a standout feature, allowing hunters to move and adjust their position without alerting game. The MeshComfort seat offers exceptional comfort, reducing fatigue and allowing for extended periods on stand.

However, the smaller platform size can feel a bit cramped, especially for larger hunters or those who prefer to stand for extended periods. The Cruzr Tree Bracket compatibility is a nice feature, but the bracket itself is not included with the stand. Overall, the Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand meets and even exceeds expectations for a hang-on treestand in its price range.

The Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand features a well-thought-out design. Hawk Treestands uses quality materials, and the welds are clean and strong. The powder coat finish adds durability and helps to minimize noise.

The seat design is particularly noteworthy, offering excellent lumbar support without being bulky or restrictive. The stand is relatively user-friendly. Attaching it to the tree is straightforward, especially when used with the Cruzr Tree Bracket.

Durability & Maintenance

The Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand appears to be built to last. The steel construction and durable powder coat finish should withstand years of use in the field. So far, I have seen no signs of corrosion or structural weakness.

Maintenance is minimal; simply wipe down the stand after each use to remove any dirt or debris. The MeshComfort seat is easily cleaned with a damp cloth.

Accessories and Customization Options

The Hawk Treestands Cruzr Treestand does not come with many included accessories beyond the standard safety harness. However, its compatibility with the Cruzr Tree Bracket is a significant selling point. Hawk Treestands offers various accessories, such as footrests and storage bags, that can enhance the stand’s functionality.

The stand’s design is also compatible with many aftermarket accessories, such as climbing sticks and ropes. This allows hunters to customize the stand to their specific needs and preferences. Be sure to use only TMA-approved accessories to ensure safety.
