Let’s Talk About Hawk Treestands Arc Hunting Umbrella
The Hawk Treestands Arc Hunting Umbrella promises to offer much-needed protection from the elements while hunting from a treestand. Hawk Treestands is a well-known name in the hunting world, particularly for their treestands and accessories, and I was interested to see how this umbrella would perform in real-world scenarios. After years of enduring unexpected downpours and battling relentless sun while perched high in a tree, I was eager to find a solution that wouldn’t compromise my hunt.
I was tired of jury-rigging tarps and using inadequate rain gear that restricted my movement. I needed something lightweight, easy to deploy, and effective at keeping me dry and concealed. I was searching for the perfect hunting umbrella.
Upon receiving the Hawk Treestands Arc Hunting Umbrella, I was immediately impressed by its compact size and seemingly durable construction. It felt much lighter than I anticipated, which is crucial for minimizing added weight to my hunting setup. My initial thought was whether this lightweight design would hold up against wind and rain.
I considered other options like the Rivers West H20 Gear and the Frogg Toggs rain suits. Ultimately, I wanted the hands-free convenience of an umbrella specifically designed for treestand hunting, which swayed me towards the Hawk Treestands Arc Hunting Umbrella. Its camo design was far superior, with a dedicated mounting system, setting it apart from the generic rain gear.
My first impression was optimistic. The camo pattern looked effective, and the overall design seemed well-thought-out for its intended purpose. I was eager to field-test the Hawk Treestands Arc Hunting Umbrella and see if it could truly live up to its promise of providing comfortable and concealed protection from the elements.
Real-World Testing: Putting Hawk Treestands Arc Hunting Umbrella to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test of the Hawk Treestands Arc Hunting Umbrella occurred during an early-season deer hunt in the Appalachian Mountains. The forecast predicted scattered showers, making it the perfect opportunity to assess its performance. I attached the umbrella to my Hawk Treestands Muddy Vantage Point stand, using the integrated mounting system.
The umbrella proved remarkably effective in light to moderate rain. It kept me dry and comfortable, allowing me to focus on the hunt without the distraction of being soaked. I did notice some minor dripping around the edges during heavier bursts, but overall, it performed well.
Deployment was quick and straightforward. The umbrella’s arc design provided ample coverage without feeling cumbersome or obstructing my shooting lanes. However, I found that adjusting the umbrella’s angle in windy conditions required some effort to prevent it from catching the wind and potentially dislodging.
Extended Use & Reliability
After a full hunting season of using the Hawk Treestands Arc Hunting Umbrella, I can confidently say it’s a valuable addition to my gear. The umbrella has withstood several significant rainstorms. It also survived some gusty wind conditions, proving its resilience.
While the camo fabric remains in excellent condition with no fading or tearing, I noticed some slight bending in the umbrella’s frame after prolonged exposure to strong winds. This bending didn’t affect its functionality, but it’s something to keep an eye on. Cleaning the umbrella is simple. I just wipe it down with a damp cloth after each use, and I store it in a dry place to prevent mildew.
Compared to my previous experiences of being exposed to the elements or using cumbersome rain gear, the Hawk Treestands Arc Hunting Umbrella significantly enhanced my hunting experience. It outperformed my expectations. I am warm, dry, and concealed, allowing me to hunt more efficiently and comfortably.
