The Grovtec US Inc EZ Clean Universal Single Stage Barr Made a Bold First Impression
I’ve seen countless cleaning kits in my decade-plus in the outdoor and tactical gear world, from elaborate multi-piece sets to minimalist bore snakes. But the Grovtec US Inc EZ Clean Universal Single Stage Barr immediately caught my eye with its promise of simplicity and universal application. This little kit from Grovtec US Inc aims to offer a straightforward cleaning solution for rifles, shotguns, and handguns all in one package.
My constant struggle is finding a cleaning solution that doesn’t take up half my workbench. I needed something compact and versatile to toss in my range bag. Unboxing the Grovtec US Inc EZ Clean Universal Single Stage Barr, I was impressed by its compact size and the included pouch. It felt lightweight yet sturdy, the nylon coated aircraft cable seemed durable, and the brass ferrule hinted at quality.
Compared to bulkier kits from brands like Hoppe’s or Otis, the Grovtec US Inc EZ Clean Universal Single Stage Barr looked far less intimidating. I considered bore snakes from brands like Real Avid, but the included brushes and swabs with the Grovtec product made it the more complete solution. My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. This product has the potential to be a game-changer if it delivers on its promise of simple, effective cleaning across multiple firearm platforms.
Real-World Testing: Putting Grovtec US Inc EZ Clean Universal Single Stage Barr to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test for the Grovtec US Inc EZ Clean Universal Single Stage Barr was at my local indoor range after a lengthy pistol practice session. I had brought my 9mm handgun and a .223 AR-15 for some target practice. The range was well-lit, but the air was thick with the smell of burnt powder.
Using the EZ Clean was surprisingly straightforward. The cable easily passed through the barrels of both firearms. The brass ferrule followed the rifling with minimal resistance. I did notice a bit of initial stiffness with the cable, but it quickly loosened up after a few passes.
Extended Use & Reliability
After a couple of months of regular use, the Grovtec US Inc EZ Clean Universal Single Stage Barr has become a staple in my cleaning kit. It’s been used on everything from my shotguns after clays to my hunting rifles after some rough trips. The nylon coating on the aircraft cable has held up remarkably well, showing no signs of fraying or damage.
The included brushes are still effective, although they are showing some signs of wear. Maintaining the EZ Clean is simple: a quick wipe down with a cloth and a drop of oil on the ferrule keeps it running smoothly. Comparing it to my old multi-piece cleaning rod, the EZ Clean is significantly faster and easier to use. It’s also much more compact and portable. It hasn’t disappointed and consistently outperforms my expectations for a single-stage system.
