The G*Outdoors Handgunner Backpack w/Sliding Storage Crad Made a Bold First Impression
The GOutdoors Handgunner Backpack w/Sliding Storage Crad promises a hands-free, organized solution for transporting handguns and range gear. As a seasoned outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen my share of range bags, and I was intrigued by the GOutdoors‘ unique approach to handgun storage and accessibility.
For years, I’ve been lugging multiple bags and cases to the range, a cumbersome process that often left me feeling disorganized and unprepared. I needed a streamlined, all-in-one solution to carry my handguns, ammunition, and essential accessories. This backpack seemed to offer precisely that, with its promise of secure handgun cradles and dedicated compartments.
Upon unboxing, the G*Outdoors Handgunner Backpack immediately impressed me with its robust construction. The materials felt durable and the stitching appeared to be high quality, suggesting it could withstand the rigors of frequent use. The sliding storage cradle was a standout feature, showcasing a unique approach to handgun organization.
I considered other options, including traditional range bags from 5.11 Tactical and modular backpacks from Vertx. However, the G*Outdoors backpack stood out due to its dedicated handgun cradle and all-in-one organizational design. It seemed like the ideal solution for consolidating my range gear into a single, easily transportable package.
My initial reaction was excitement tempered with a healthy dose of skepticism. Would the cradle truly secure my handguns? Would the compartments be spacious enough for all my gear? I was eager to put the G*Outdoors Handgunner Backpack to the test and discover if it lived up to its promises.
Real-World Testing: Putting G*Outdoors Handgunner Backpack w/Sliding Storage Crad to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the G*Outdoors Handgunner Backpack at my local outdoor shooting range. I packed it with four handguns, several boxes of ammunition, ear protection, shooting glasses, targets, and a cleaning kit. The backpack felt comfortable on my back, even with the considerable weight.
The weather was slightly damp, but the backpack’s water-resistant material kept my gear dry. The ease of accessing my handguns using the sliding cradle was a major plus. It saved me valuable time and kept my firearms organized and readily available.
The only initial issue was the snug fit of larger handguns in the cradle. My full-sized 1911 required a bit of maneuvering to fit securely.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the G*Outdoors Handgunner Backpack has proven to be a reliable and durable companion. There are no signs of significant wear and tear, despite frequent use and exposure to varying weather conditions. The stitching remains intact, and the zippers operate smoothly.
Maintenance is simple: wiping down the exterior with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove dirt and grime. The interior compartments are easy to clean, and the foam cradle can be removed for more thorough cleaning. It definitely outperforms lugging multiple range bags.
Compared to my previous experiences with generic range bags, the G*Outdoors Handgunner Backpack offers a superior level of organization and convenience. The dedicated handgun storage and well-designed compartments have significantly streamlined my range trips.

The G*Outdoors Handgunner Backpack is designed for hands-free transportation to and from the range. *It provides a compact solution for handgun shooters.*
The backpack features a Visual ID Storage System, offering separate pockets for frequently used items. This adds protection and ensures easy retrieval.
The standout feature is the internal storage cradle, which slides out of the lower compartment. This cradle is CNC machined from high-density foam and is designed to hold 4 medium to small handguns in a vertical format.
The vertical format makes accessing your handguns at the range easy, while adding 360-degree protection. The cradle allows removing the handguns for cleaning and storage in a gun safe without needing to open individual cases.

Performance & Functionality
The G*Outdoors Handgunner Backpack performs exceptionally well in organizing and transporting range gear. The handgun cradle securely holds firearms, and the various compartments offer ample space for ammunition, accessories, and cleaning supplies. However, larger frame pistols can be a tight fit.
The backpack’s strengths lie in its organizational capabilities, ease of use, and durable construction. The sliding cradle is a game-changer for handgun access, but the fit for larger handguns could be improved.
The backpack largely meets my expectations, providing a convenient and reliable solution for range trips. The only minor drawback is the limited space for larger items, such as bulky spotting scopes.
