Let’s Dive into Garrett Hobby ACE 350 8.5inx11in Proformance DD Searchcoil 2222000
The Garrett Hobby ACE 350 8.5inx11in Proformance DD Searchcoil 2222000 is an accessory designed to enhance the metal detecting capabilities of Garrett ACE series detectors. This search coil promises improved target separation and deeper detection, especially in challenging soil conditions. I’ve spent countless hours swinging metal detectors in various environments, and I’m excited to see if this coil lives up to its promises.
My usual hunting grounds are littered with iron mineralization, turning potentially productive sites into frustrating noise fests. I was looking for a solution that could cut through the chatter and help me find those elusive silver coins. The Double D (DD) coil design, known for its ability to handle mineralized soil, piqued my interest.
Upon unboxing, the Garrett Hobby ACE 350 8.5inx11in Proformance DD Searchcoil 2222000 feels solid and well-made. The epoxy-filled construction suggests durability, and the 8.5″ x 11″ size feels like a good compromise between coverage and maneuverability. It’s noticeably lighter than some aftermarket coils I’ve used, which is a plus for long hunts.
I considered other options, like the standard concentric coil that comes with the ACE 350, and other aftermarket coils from different manufacturers. However, the Garrett name and the specific promise of improved performance in mineralized soil swayed me. I wanted a coil designed to work seamlessly with my ACE 350.
My first impression was cautiously optimistic. I hoped this coil would transform my experience with the ACE 350. I was also a little skeptical, given that it is a mid-range accessory and whether it would live up to the hype.
Real-World Testing: Putting Garrett Hobby ACE 350 8.5inx11in Proformance DD Searchcoil 2222000 to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test was at an old homestead site known for its heavily mineralized soil. I’ve struggled there before, getting countless false signals with the stock coil. The Garrett Hobby ACE 350 8.5inx11in Proformance DD Searchcoil 2222000 immediately showed a difference.
The ground noise was noticeably reduced, allowing me to hear fainter, deeper signals. I even unearthed a couple of corroded pennies that I am sure I would have missed before. It was raining slightly, putting the coil’s waterproof design to the test.
The coil handled the wet conditions without any issues. The larger size did take some getting used to, especially navigating around trees and bushes. However, the blunted tail and tip helped improve maneuverability.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use, the Garrett Hobby ACE 350 8.5inx11in Proformance DD Searchcoil 2222000 continues to impress. I’ve used it in fields, forests, and even near the saltwater shore. The coil is holding up well, with no signs of cracking or water intrusion.
The epoxy-filled construction seems robust. I’ve knocked it against rocks and roots without causing any visible damage. Cleaning is simple.
Just a quick wipe down with a damp cloth is all it needs. The performance has exceeded my expectations compared to my previous coil experiences. It’s made a noticeable difference in my ability to find targets in challenging environments.
